je me souviendrai de toi

Howling, as I undestand it, is canine speak for "I am here, where are you?".  A means to locate another when they are missed.   And I think with Joey's passing, our hearts are howling as loudly as they ever could.

joey, my friend, in celebration of the joy you and maggie gave us,  and the love of everything long and short with which you united us, we bow our heads as we bring out our biggest and best snackie in your honor, and we bid you one last, lonely, and heartfelt.....

We were so sad to read of Joey's passing. Mom cuddled me a little closer last night after she read his wonderful tribute, & both puppy and human prayers for Joey, Rowdy & their dad last night.

We were so sad to read of Joey's passing. I shed some tears at the story & made sure to hold Charlie tighter & give him an extra treat. <3

Thank you Baxter - we had some good times - most recently you helped Joey with a Chicago foofie alert - he really enjoyed that. You're a good friend. Love the pic.

It's so odd - I drove by Joey and Maggie's house on Friday and looked up, thinking that Joey and Rowdy were probably there at that moment, waiting for Dad to come home from work. So I was definitely thinking of them, but Joey had already gone. I hope Rowdy is doing OK as an "only." That is a tough adjustment too. Sigh.

The boys know that there's now another bright dachshund dog star in the sky. Seems to have hit Ike the most - he had a special liking for Joey. We are all Aaarrroooooooooo-ing in our household.

Oh Baxter--what a good dog friend you are. Kate and I cuddled and I cried some tears. We still miss Allie around here, and sometimes the thought of "the DAy" coming for Kate is just too overwhelming (as I know it is for your mom). We haven't talked in a long time, and there is much going on in our house. We remain your fans, and with health and happiness to all our doxie friends. Jenny and Kate in Maryland!
