I always wonder what it is that tiny chumley is trying to detect when he puts his snoot in the air and sniffs with dedicated intensity. When it is obvious to nobody but him that something interesting is, was, or will be coming. But with daffodils in some places almost ready to bloom, I have a feeling that yesterday's sniff, I know exactly what his nose was trying to confirm....

It really doesn't take much to keep the lucky charms and four leaf clovers twinkling brightly and floating weightlessly in tiny chumley's happy little world. Sure he has his fancy toys and fun fun snackies, but then there are the simple days like yesterday when all that was needed was a random stick to fetch and warm warm sunlight to help cast long and jaunty shadows.

And often in tiny chumley's happy go lucky world, happiness needs nothing at all. :)

Hee hee, the little kielbasa and duk duk have been hard at work designing and uploading new goodies for the etsy shop, and I couldn't wait to share a peek at three of them - a rootin tootin foofie producin sweet little cowboy birthday card (stink not included), and two little magnets perfect to send include as happy gifty inserts.

Up til yesterday, rain and chilly temps kept tiny chumley from his usual evening walkie, and so instead the little kielbasa filled his time in other ways, catching snackies and playing with duk duk, and yes, even dancing a shuffle with his dad while we all waited for better weather.

mom, i am so glad the sun came back but boy did we have fun even without it. next time it rains, can me n duk duk go looking for worms on the sidewalk? :)

so, did i ever tell u that chocobot is friends with a dragon? and that his name is chester mcfoofie and besides the obvious reasons why we might want to invite him to stay with us, did i tell u that we were also having a chinese new years celebration yesterday and with it being the year of the dragon he was the guest of honor and we had a great time eating fish snackies and monkey chow noodles and watching him set off firecrackers just by breathing on them? and did i tell u that he outfoofied us all to the point where even i had to open a window 2 get some fresh air? hoo-wee. and did i tell u that chester promised to come back when the circus bears are in town so we can have a fire breathing act like all the best circuses have? yep, i didn't think i told u. but now i did!

dapper doxie duds: penny for your thoughts

Well hello, it's me, Baxter, your roving rover reporter, reporting to you today from the ninth annual hat lady convention and garden party. Hee hee, okay well no not really, even though I am wearing what looks to be a really swell hat, aren't I?

I am here to report to you today on something even cooler - the dud my mom made for my new friend Penny! And besides me not really being able to fit Penny's new dud, there is a really good reason why Penny's new dud is on my head because you see, Penny and her mom n dad are behind the super fun site, stuffonmywiener.com! So naturally I needed to model penny's dud on my wiener noggin, right?

Anyhoo, this is Penny. She is lovely, isn't she?

And here is a closer peek at her new dud! My mom says it is made from a deep raspberry pink diamond weave mercerized cotton interlock bound in indigo denim and the flower is made from hand dyed silk satin mixed with an imported quilting cotton print and mixed iridescent glass beads and fresh water pearls. I say, I hope Penny will love it!

Sometimes it takes a little convincing to help tiny chumley remember that he is, after all, long and short and built for going into all the tight places that others cannot. And so while the rain kept us from doing our regular Friday afternoon walkie, we instead played find the teeny tiny snackie.

baxter and duk duk's amazing circus show: the great snackie toss

dear diary,
well even though chocobot does not know when his circus bear friends are coming back to town, me n duk duk thought it would be a great idea to start developing new act and games for our circus. and u know how there is always a ring toss at the circus midway? well we thought why not make it one better and make it a snackie toss! so of course yeah u know we had to practice that game yesterday. here is a video from our first practice training sessions (and yeah u can even watch it in HD if u want - just clicky on the gear to change the viewing quality!)

hee hee, yeah i am so hoping to improve on my personal best and mom says so long as me n duk duk do not post any more poopie pictures to facebook then she would be happy to train with us every day at lunch. yippee!! toodley-doo!b. :)

It's been two weeks since tiny chumley's tushie tangled with his border collie cousin's herding instincts, and the signs of their encounter are fading away nicely. Yesterday, the last of his scabs disappeared, and a soft layer of peach fuzz has mostly grown in to cover his pinky pink skin.

mom, r u sure there's not any way we can get my fur to grow in longer? i saw bugs bunny use a great hair tonic on elmer fudd and even though that kind spouted flowers i am sure there is one for just growing regular long hair and u know i have been wanting long hair for as long as i can remember and chocobot said if it grew in long enough we could braid it! :)

Top isn't exactly the first view that comes to mind when I think of angles from which to photograph the little kielbasa, yet aside from when he is busy acquiring prime pillow real estate in our bed at night and I or his dad or the both of us are awakened to the full frontal sight of a fuzzy face or pokey paw, top is often the primary view from which we see and interact with our height challenged little sausage boy. A less informative perspective, I imagine, than what he sees of us.

mom, didjoo know dad has a forest inside his nose? and that teacher always wears a dress and polka dot underwear on wednesdays? and can u believe how much bubblegum is under the tables in the cafeteria?? :)

dapper doxie dud: the midnight sky

Hey everybuddy it's me, Baxter, your roving rover reporter reporting to you today about the goodies my mom finished yesterday for my friend Pinto. As u can see, Pinto is a very cool piebald and yeah u guessed it, he is actually close to my size, which is why I can actually model the dud my mom made for him. I like to call this one the midnight sky, because the dyed corduroy my mom made and used reminds me of yeah u guessed it again, the midnight sky. Only on this night the moon is full which is why you see glints of swirly lights and darks on the fabric and asymmetrical silk necktie embellishment and of course, the vintage watch movement full moon!

Hee hee, oh yeah, did I also mention Pinto ordered up an Elmer Fudd Flapjack too? And yeah I can fit that too so here I am wearing it! I am so very excited for Pinto because me n duk duk are going to take the pedal car today and drop it off at the post office and then he will have it in no time.

Next up on the crafty list? My mom says the fabulous Penny's dud, and then after that she will be working on a ton of fit models so if u have been waiting patiently, thank u and know that I will be helping mom with everything these next couple to three weeks so stay tuned!

well diary, now that my cool tushie staples are gone and the vet determined i do not have a heart murmur, i guess i will have to look for other ways i can maintain my superbad street cred with the kids at school. and since mom will not let me get a pirate tattoo on my tummy and mom made me n duk duk throw away the nunchuks we made out of toilet paper rolls and twisty ties because they turned to mush after somedukkie just had to play with them out in the rain the other day, i think i am going to try depending on props less and focus more on developing my inner outer superbadness. and methinks, it all starts with a look. the look. cuz all i need to ask is, are u talkin 2 me?

well diary, even though the trip back home was pretty boring, me n duk duk n chocobot n lil pink puppy are back home now safe n sound and can u believe we traveled over two thousand miles? which is really cool becuz that means i have traveled over twelve thousand miles now, and duk duk thinks that means i've pooped practically everywhere on earth and so now for our new years resolution and thanks to some inspiration we found on the way back home, me n duk duk are going to try and send a poopie snake into outer space - u know, 2 like the moon or sumptin. we both think it will be a lot easier and cheaper than trying to send a monkey like we tried to last year.

anyhoo, i hope i can stay awake in school today because me n duk duk are going to get up extra early to shine up my tushie bling cuz heck yeah u know all the kids are gonna wanna see. and we might even try to charge admission because even though project poopie snakes in space will be cheaper than project monkeys in space, duk duk think it will still cost a tiny fortune so the sooner we start fundraising the better, dontchoo think?

well what a fun trip i had to visit my grandma and my cousin jasper and his family! and it's kinda not over because me n duk duk and chocobot n lil pink puppy are still making our way home but guess what - since we upgraded out train tickets to business class now i have access 2 the internet and so i decided to help mom add some super cool new cards and some perennial favorites for birthdays, valentines day, and even st patrick's day! here is just a tiny sample of whatchoo will see if u visit and yeah u know it, there's even a luchador birthday card!

anyhoo, while i was out west me n duk duk had a ton more swell ideas for cards so hopefully by the end of the month u will also see more goodies from the brought to u by baxter n duk duk series. cuz u know, the world needs more happy cards, right?

dear diary,
yippee! we are finally here at my border collie cousin jasper's western saloon and no sooner did we unpack and settle in than, uh, well, what can i say there was an accidental herding incident. but please do not worry for me bcuz the vet said my wounds were not as bad as they look and even though one of them was not very deep it was a tiny bit wide so to help it heal better i got two very cool staples and antibiotics and i even got a tushie shave! although not shaved with my name like i was hopin but maybe my vet will do it when he visits me to take my staples out in 10 days.

anyhoo, i totally wish it were halloween now bcuz wouldn't my tushie make the best frankenstein ever? mom always said it had a life of its own. :o

ps - do not worry, i am okay bcuz jasper thought it might be a good idea for him to stay at his grandmas house while we are in town and we r going to video skype bcuz that way he says if his herding instinct surfaces, all he will be able to herd is his monitor and well u know, it is a lot harder and less susceptible to herding than my tushie. and he said i could have all his snackies while he is gone and they are very delicious. and, mom says most importantly, although i have not exhibited any symptoms of problems, the vet here said she detected a heart murmur and now i will totally get that checked out when i get home. i know, what a day, right? :)

dapper doxie duds: feelin stitchy!

dear diary,
well it turns out u cannot get netflix via the telegraph like we were hopin, so the ride out west is long and slow and even though it is foofie filled, we can hardly wait to get off this train and walk on the dry sandy soil of my cousin jasper's ranch. and hopefully find a real sandworm so we can ride it.

but anyhoo, as i have nothing really 2 report today bcuz we are still on the train, i thought i would show u the wonderful duds i helped my mom make for my friend stitch, a long haired chocolatey dapple who is not only getting a happy black and turquoise aqua sushi dud, but also these super duper ones! and yeah as u might guess, stitch is a lot smaller than i am otherwise i would have modeled them all for u.

hee hee, yeah that's right, stitch was named after stitch, so of course he needed a stitch dud, right?

and even though we just celebrated the new year's arrival, can u believe there will be another new year coming up? this time it will be the year of the dragon and wouldn'tchoo know that mom found a lovely embroidered silk robe back in chicago thinking the right pup would come along and need this turned into a harness and wouldn'tchoo that that right pup was stitch?

and yep, this was the one that started it all. bcuz when stitch's mom first contacted my mom she decided she wanted a very nice quilty dud for her boy and well, u know what they say about potato chips? my dud drawer and now stitch's dud drawer is a testament to the fact thatchoo can't have just one.

dear diary,
with christmas over and school not starting for another week, me n duk duk n chocobot n lil pink puppy were almost getting bored and then we thought, why not take the train and do just like the pet shop boys and go west to visit my cousin jasper? which is a super idea because now that i have my sheriff's outfit, i think i jasper will be better able to tell me apart from the sheep he likes herding so much. and with my cowboy hat, methinks i will fit in very well with the local scenery which i learned in school is whatchoo want to do, especially in rome for some reason although i am sure it applies to the great sand and cactus filled deserts of the wild west.

anyhoo, so as u can see me n duk n chocobot n lil pink puppy are all packed up for our adventure and maybe on the train ride we will work on our new year resolutions but for now i must say hasta luego pardner, bcuz soon it will be time to board our train and as we will be in western coach class, methinks there will not be any internet, only telegraph. which i think will make it very difficult to watch netflix, but duk duk says he knows morse code well enough that it should not be a problem otherwise it is gonna be one long foofie filled trip.

As cliched as it sounds, I really can't believe that another year is about to come to a close. It took three hundred and sixty four posts in 2011 to get to this point, or more than a thousand since the little kielbasa and I first cast our hello into the cyber darkness, and found there to be love and light as we would never have imagined.

As it has over this past year, in 2012, as little white hairs take hold on tiny chumley's chinny chin chin and sprout like dandelions, I am certain Baxter's tiny little microcosmic world will evolve. Making new friends, and, sadly, losing friends too. Such are the ups and downs of life. But I hope our little corner of the universe will continue to be the happy go lucky and crafty place that it is, full of sunshine and wonder and dachshund love. Where the watermelon is plentiful and the paw shakes firm, where unicorns are truly appreciated and coexist happily with turtles and sandworms and mischievous duks and even newborn little pink puppies. Where a lucha loving dog and his dukfriend can do the robot and speak with authority when they say what happens at woof mitzvah, stays at woof mitzvah.

I haven't a clue what 2012 holds in store for us, but I know even on the grayest of days next year, it will be all the merrier and sunshinier, all because of we have been touched by the likes our wiggly four legged sausagey boy wonder. Goodbye 2011. Hello 2012. :)

i have so many things to tell you about christmas that i think it will take me more than a couple days to really tell u everything, but let me start by saying that i feel that i am the luckiest dog in the world, and not just because i got so many wonderful new doxie goodies (thank u ammo for the lovely orange doxie pen! i hope 2 write 2 u soon with it!)

and not because i got so many wonderful christmas cards that our former potato-chip-bag spinner-display-thingy-turned-christmas-card-tree was full (but oooo i got so many cool cards from my friends!)

and not just because there were so many wonderful snackies and toys and things that i thought were toys for me to open and taste on christmas day (yeah baby more on that 2morrow!)

Hooray!! With the last package sent out for Christmas and Santa's crafty workshop now officially on vacation, tiny chumley and I took the time yesterday to build the desperately needed Expedit shelving unit we scored last week. Mostly with me building, and Baxter - when not trying to sit in my lap while I hammered and screwed - keeping watch while resting comfortably under george's gentle warming breath.

Twilight had arrived by the time I finished building the IKEA beast and affixing it to the wall, but that didn't stop the little kielbasa from coming out from the shadows to claim what he felt was so obviously should be his.

ooo, me n duk duk always wanted a tree house u can climb into - save this cubby for us, okay mom?

Okay baby dog, but promise me you'll help me fill all the other ones tomorrow, okay?

dear dairy,
so maybe u know by know that even though santa is really nice and gives me presents and everything, i sorta think he is also very scary to meet in person and so u know, besides mom not having a picture of me on santa's lap, most of my communication with him is by letter or email and for the past four years that has worked very well for me and for duk duk too. but somebuddy at preschool told lil pink puppy about the santa's lap and picture thing and next thing i know, lil pink puppy asked me n duk duk if we would take him to get a picture with mall santa. needless 2 say it was a very big dilemma bcuz on the one paw i could tell lil pink puppy was really looking forward 2 it and on the other paw, i was really not looking forward it, and on the other back paws, duk duk and chocobot wanted 2 stay home and play on the wii.

but light bulb! lucky for us i had a holiday hoodie that mom got on clearance last year and so while chocobot pretended to dial santa to come to our house for a cup of hot monkey chow milkshake (he had 2 pretend because he actually does have santa on speed dial but it is for emergencies only this time of year), i slipped into the hoodie while duk duk set up our picture with santa booth. and since i did not have a beard and lil pink puppy might recognize me, why of course i slipped on my lucha mask. because u know santa is a really good luchador, too, right? almost as good as me, only his performance is really encumbered by his red robe. which explains why duk duk beat m- uh, santa - in the post picture lucha lucha match. i'm just sayin.

anyhoo, our picture with santa booth was a hit and lil pink puppy got to tell santa everything he wanted for christmas and we printed it out just like u would at a real mall and the best part? well of course the picture and the no scary santa thing, and the hot monkey chow milkshakes! :)

dear diary,
yesterday i went with mom and dad to the flea market and we had a swell time only i was so busy barking at other dogs and sniffing the floor for popcorn that me forgots to christmas shop for duk duk, chocobot, and lil pink pupppy. which is kind of a bummer because i knew exactly what i wanted to get all of them and now my opportunity is gone since next weekend u know is christmas. but lucky 4 me mom said i could shop thru her crafty studio and all the stuff she got at thifty stores and maybe this week while lil pink puppy is in after school dance and chocobot is in princess n me and duk duk is hanging with his cousins i might could make something for all of them. which sounded really fun because i think i know exactly what i want 2 make too. but sorry i cannot tell u because it is a secret.

anyhoo, i hope u r having a wonderful monday and diary, if u happen to find a used rocket engine and some scrap metal and an easy-weld welder for canines on craigslist please let me know okay?

guess what! wouldntchoo know that this year is going 2 be lil pink puppy's first christmas ever and so today we thought it be super fun to read all about the poky little puppy's first christmas, just so lil pink puppy knows what he can expect. well okay, u know, besides a visit from scary santa n presents and if he is lucky, a poopie snake from rudolph himself. the only thing is i left my glasses at school and so i am going 2 have to make up most of the story bcuz i have never really read about the poky little puppy's first christmas either. i sure hope the real story involves flying robots and an exploding clown car otherwise i am going to have to pay close attention to what i make up in case this turns into a christmas tradition, know what i mean?

tiny chumley was hardly impressed that we woke him up early yesterday morning. To him it was just another ordinary day, and if it was going to be just another ordinary day then why on earth would he need to be so rudely awakened and removed from the warm coccoon of the queen sized bed that he lets his humans share with him? Blinky and bleary eyed, Baxter trundled off to his own actual little bedroom bed, nesting himself square in the middle and dozing in and out while teeth brushing and shower sounds gently lulled him back to deeper sleep.

Baxter's interests were mildly piqued as he saw things being taken in and out of the car. The little kielbasa's body tried its best to stay out of the way while his little mind whirred as it tried to figure out if all the unusual hubbub foreshadowed the impending doom of his being left home alone, or the promise of impending rideys glee.

"Baby dog," I told him with a hearty pet to his tiny noggin when I brushed passed him for the third time, "do not worry. You'll be coming with! And, we might even get chik-fil-a!"

okey doke, his eyes did tell me. And after we all piled into the car, he hunkered down in his snoozer, trusting that we would take him exactly where he needed to go.

Yet much to tiny chumley's apparent chagrin, our three hour tour didn't take us to see family or friends, nor did it take us to the tummy satisfying land of Snackieville. Our rather last minute three hour tour took us to where I needed to go, where I have been needing to go ever since I created a giant mess to clear space in my studio to make way for my holy grail of studio crafty space organization, only to find out that it would be out of stock for the next three months. These past three months, of waiting, of cramped quarters, of losing things and tripping over everything, of being teased online with the promise of restock only to have dates fall through time and time again, location after location.

Til maybe, finally now. Could it really be true? After weeks of checking online and copious amounts of complaining to the Facebook ether (sorry my facebook homies), I had given up looking and become resigned to the fact that the earliest I would ever see my grail would be in the spring time. But thanks to inadvertent prodding from my friend Robin, I begrudgingly checked inventory two nights ago, expecting the same half baked it'll be here in a couple weeks answer. But instead, a tiny blip on the radar. My heart pounded. Three units of elusive IKEA 5x5 Expedit in Birch Effect were back in stock and only at the store that happened to be closest to us and only on the day that big boyfriend had already planned to take off. Yeah baby! Cue the glorious angel choir and light up the stage because ladies and gentlemen, THIS was a festivus miracle of major proportions.

Yet, when I returned to the car with my most excellent score, my loyal-little-lingonberry-let's-go-rideys longfriend was hardly impressed by series of fortunate events that had unfolded before him.

woof mitzvah wooty booty

dear diary,
well what a difference a nap and time makes! as you already know my woof mitzvah party was a blast and even though i cannot tell you much about it, i wanted to share with you some of the swell things i got for my birthday. here u can see me wearing some of my new wooty booty - mom n dad got me like three very nice walkies jackets and they are super cool bcuz they are the kind that cover my chest n tummy n stuff and they zip open and closed on the side for a snugger fit whichchoo know i need because i would just ensausage myself otherwise. yeah u might have already seen me in one of them from before my birthday. but mom says it was cold so u know, i got to test it out and make sure it fit an all. oh and as u can see i also got a very nice matching leather leash from the same place at made my woof mitzvah collar! and, u will not see it 2day, but i got a special occasion artful collar that mom had made especially for me - it is very cool, trust me. but i think she is right we need to save it for a special day and when u see it u will see why too.

anyhoo, just when i was thinkin that all i was getting was going to be all sorts of adulty wearable sort of stuff, duk duk n chocobot n lil pink puppy brought out their gift that they helped mom make, and well, all i can say is i am still on cloud nine. cuz i may not have told u before but because i am the biggest when we all play cowboys n indian cops n robbers, i am always the horse and somebuddy is always riding my back. always. that is, up til now cuz looky!! nope, it's not a mirage, mom n duk duk n chocobot n lil pink pippu made me my very own super duper shiny brass sheriff's badge!! and yeah u know who's gonna be sheriff now...

go ahead. make my day, pardner.

yippeee! with all the holiday hoopla surrounding my christmas list, i totally forgot that my birthday was today - but thankfully, mom n dad and duk duk n chocobot n lil pink puppy remembered and thank goodness they did cuz today i am five and even though mom says every birthday is special, this one is more so, because it's my woof mitzvah birthday. and since i kinda already got my woof mitzvah gift like super early, i am not really sure what i will be getting 2day, but i am wondering if it will be something super cool and um, adulty. like a porsche pedal car or a personalized bowling ball or maybe even a scooter sidecar camper so me n duk duk can take lil pink puppy and chocbot RVing this summer. all that would be so cool, right?

but honestly, it does not matter. bcuz i am happy that 2day i am turning five, and 2day, i get to celebrate it with my family, and 2day, i am a dog.

With a knowing look like this, it's always difficult to leave the little kielbasa home alone. But alas, like yesterday, when holiday shopping duties called, sometimes it has to be. Resigned to his fate, tiny chumley's usually limber body often turns into an unwilling mass as I pick him up to say goodbye. Dark clouds gather as he turns his head away, shunning me for the atrocity I am about to commit.

I always wonder if really gives him comfort, but every time we must part, with a giant hug and a kiss on his cheek, I tell him what I always want to be true. Don't worry, baby dog, I will always come back for you. I always will. And soon everything will be right again. :)

Hey everybuddy, it's me, Baxter, your roving rover reporter, reporting to you today about the happy duds my mom just finished for my friends Quintin and Jewel. My friend Quintin is the doxie on the right and his family are fans of the German National football team (that's Die deutsche Fußballnationalmannschaft in case u were wondering). So Quintin's mom and my mom thought that Quintin could use a little something sporty and since the team's regular white uniform wasn't very practical for a doxie dud, mom decided to to use one of Michael Ballack's curvy pieced red jerseys for inspiration and even included a little reflective piping so Quintin can stand out at a night game. Super cool, right? I would have modeled it for u but mom says there is a reason she calls me her little kielbasa and not her little vienna sausage. I say...yeah, it didn't fit me even when I held my breath. But here it is!

And looky! I can fit Quintin's sister Jewel's dud! And me so likey cuz it has squirrels and deer on them and it has piping that mom made expecially for it and it has buttons and it is made from a nice red cotton pique and it reminds me of a very happy german fairy tale just like the one I read with lil pink puppy the other night. U know, the one with the deer n squirrels in it and the forest with the magic kibble tree that grants three wishes?

Anyhoo, mehopes that Quintin and Jewel will enjoy their new duds very much and me also hopes that u enjoyed seeing them as much as I enjoyed reporting about them. This is Baxter your roving rover reporter wishing u a very happy Thursday! :)

well wouldn'tchoo know it's a lot of work doing research to come up with a new christmas list for santa and so yesterday i took a break and went for a nice walkie with mom n dad. which was really good bcuz it reminded me of a few things i forgot to add 2 my list. which turned out to be sorta bad because when i finally finished my list i counted a hundred things and me n duk duk thought that seemed like a lot and now i gotta cut like a couple and u know u really can't ask for things like a scooby doo mystery magic fun fun and scary noises bouncy castle and not also ask for the fred's glow in the dark bounce n spark four in one jumping booties and the breakaway tag team velma n daphne anti gravity musical space helmets and the scrappy doo electric air pump n dump and the special shaggy bouncy bounce fruity rollup barf bags, can u? not to mention all the batteries i will need 2 power everything. or the earplugs that mom says she needs. so u can see diary i still have my work cut out for me. which is why all i really have to turn in today for my report on the great white winter snowy owl will be my tushie picture from yesterday cuz nobuddy had time to write anything. only i still think i will do fine bcuz i am planning to also bring teacher a monkey chow milkshake so please do not worry for me.

hee hee hee, guess what - our thanksgiving houseguests have arrived! and yeah u know guessed it, our visitors are duk duk's brothers, duk duk and duk duk! and as u might imagine everybuddy was really happy 2 see with each other again bcuz it has been forever since duk duk has been able 2 visit and talk with the duk duks becuz duk duk's brother duk duk lost his iphone and has not saved up enough gummy worms 2 buy a new one and duk duk's other brother duk duk lives in the enchanted forest where all the glitter in the trees interferes with cell phone and wi fi reception. so needless 2 say there is a lot of catching up 2 do. which we will do, and then it will be time to do a little lucha lucha b4 we all settle down to start preparations for our thanksgiving meal. which i am so excited about bcuz we caught some nice juicy gummy worms the other day!

yippee!! today my auntie robin's kids and uncle dana are coming to visit and not only does that mean more laps for me to lie on, but it means my entire backyard is getting remulched! which is good becuz when i woke up yesterday morning i found a giant pile of the stuff in my driveway and really i dunno how it got there but methinks aliens beamed it in while i was sleeping which was a bit of a bummer cuz if they could do that then why not just beam it where it needs 2 go so everybuddy will have more time to visit with me?

anyhoo, i am so glad it's all getting done bcuz double yippee, duk duk's cousins will be coming for thankgiving dinner this year and with a freshly mulched backyard it will be much easier to play poopie snake toss n go seek. i am so excited i can hardly wait!! but i best go and get my boots on so i can help mom n dad n everybuddy spread mulch.

Yesterday morning was one of those mornings where the little kielbasa woke up and knew something interesting was going to happen. I knew because rather than sticking by his heater friend, george, which he always does on cool mornings so as to maintain his desired body temp of baked potato, he followed me, making my journeys about the house mildy perilous as I moved piles of fabric and sweaters in a halfhearted attempt to tidy up the messes I made the day before. Risking the fact that I might stumble over him, so that he didn't miss out on the exact moment when something interesting happened.

Baby dog, whatchoo want?, I asked to his cocked little head after I finished and settled down to do some work on the internet. I could tell that my noisy little whine generator was bored.

I stared into his bright brown eyes, and then focused on the very light frosting of gray hairs on his chinny chin chin. No, I sighed, you're not getting any younger, are you?.. I suppose you're right, something interesting really should happen today, shouldn't it, little friend? Which is how I ended up raking in the backyard, shaping leaves into chumley high piles and sprinkling kibble in them. And how the little kielbasa ended up spending his afternoon, happily rooting around like a piglet in search of truffles. :)

dear diary,
wooty hoo! even though thanksgiving is all about the turkey and pilgrims and well, being thankful, me n duk duk thought that there really should be a way that we could all say thanks for giving. so we helped mom come up with super cute thank u cards that everybuddy can use. or give, so other people can say thank u too. cuz u know, it's really important 2 say thanks after santa gives all those presents, right - u know, so he will give u more next time?

hee hee hee, oh no! el salchicha smashes on duk duk2 with a flying cactus clothesline rolling thunder turnbuckle flip while his twin partner duk duk1 anxiously waits by the sidelines to be tapped in.

but can duk duk1 save his partner in time? the answer is no! el salchicha tosses duk duk2 out of the ring like a rag doll and goes after duk duk1 with his famous bronco buster three point drop! ladeez and gentlemen cover you eyes bcuz this is a massacre of epic proportions! the referees should be calling this lucha match at any min-

oh my goodness, out from nowhere, duk duk 2 just wailed on el salchicha with a flying forewing smash and now el luchador is pinned for the count! one..two..three!!

yippee! my grandpa and grandma and uncle came into town this past weekend and we have been doing all sorts of fun stuff - except going 2 the flea market bcuz for some reason i could not go along with them yesterday which was a big boo hoo for me but then when mom came home she showed me what she scored and i was so happy to know that at least she was thinking of me and then everything got better bcuz then we all went to the park for a very nice walkie and i even shook hands with like a gabillion kids and showed them a few of my tricks and of course u know that meant i had lots of snackies. so all in all it was a very very nice weekend. how was yours, diary?

Even though the nights here have been cool, they still haven't been cool enough to tell the little kielbasa's cherry tomato plant on the deck that it is time to say goodbye. And so there are tiny tomatoes in various shades of green and stripey orange, all struggling to turn ripe despite the cold weather and shorter days. Struggling so hard that they sometimes exhaust themselves, and simply fall off the vine and onto the deck.

The little kielbasa has figured this out in the past week or so, and has made it his daily mission after poopies to run hurriedly back up the deck to snitch one of these fallen unripened fruits of summer, cradling it carefully inside his mouth like a little green treasure and hoping that nobody will notice his bounty as he brings it back inside to enjoy in the quiet darkness of under the kitchen table. Only to be disappointed that his tomato was much ickier than the ones he remembered tasting only a few weeks ago.

Cute, I know. But this is my little poppin fresh funnabun we're talkin about here. Whose forefathers before him without any training at all knew exactly when to snitch a tomato off their plant, even after they went blind. They would be appalled that tiny chumley didn't apply more discretion to his deck farm to under table endeavors.

So yesterday afternoon when tiny chumley raced in front of me and darted up the stairs to snitch yet another fallen unripe tomato, I figured it was time to make things right. Time to teach my boy. I went back inside and brought out a grape tomato from a box I just purchased from Aldi. Not exactly summer sweet, but better than an orange tiny ball. I sat him down and let him carefully sniff each one from my hand.

"See baby dog? This is the one u want. Okay now you do it. Ready? Now which one?", I asked Baxter as I put both tomatoes down for him to choose. Baxter looked down, and then looked up. Waiting. "It's okay, you can do it."

Baxter briefly paused before coming up with his own very special answer.

which one? how bout BOTH??, his tummy proclaimed before his mouth took care of the rest.

And thus ended my lesson for the day.

dear diary,
well diary, as i mentioned on facebook, halloween was a bust bcuz it rained and did not stop til 6:50 in the evening and mom said we could only be out til 7:00 and that would only give us like, 10 minutes to trick or treat, and bcuz it was cold out mom decided we should not go at all even though we found baggies for our heads n everything. and then to add insult 2 injury i tried 2 bring my costume 2 school 2day but as i did not want 2 get it wet i put it in my backpack which meant of course i had to goto school nakey nakey which teacher did not appreciate at all and that got me an early ride home where i thought i was gonna be bummed n bored all day.

but then no sooner did i get home than mom gave me this super cool present from stitch (do not tell mom but i am actually looking forward 2 my next bath so i can use it!) and i got to help her make stitch's new yummy yummy sushi duds !

and mom said since we still had halloween candy left that dad did not pass out, that me n duk duk could have it and even though it is not the candy we like it tastes much better in monkey chow milkshakes and in fact it makes our breath stink too so double bonus! and when i texted chocobot he said he thinks there might be a way to turn it into cotton candy and if so triple bonus cuz then we can ask mom to stuff the turkey with it for thanksgiving the way chocobot says his grandma does it at her house! so all in all even though me n duk duk did not get to go trick or treating, do not feel sorry for us diary bcuz in the end it all worked out, even if we cannot trade candy for poopie snakes with the kids at school.

well diary i must go now and take the pedal car to pick up chocobot and lil pink puppy from princess fairy camp so i will talk to 2 later! :)

dear diary,
i am writing u early today because tonight is halloween and of course u already know that me n duk duk are going trick or treating. but what u do not know diary is that it might rain and so me n duk duk have been watching the weather very carefully and hope very much that our halloween is not rained out, especially because mom n dad got candy that we do not like and we were really hoping to get gummy worms and super sour spray and war heads so we can trade with the other kids at school for cool stuff like poopie snakes. (hee hee, yeah, i know. poopie snakes for candy? the kids at school are such suckers! but i will save that story for another day.)

anyhoo diary, sometime later tomorrow maybe i will tell u how our halloween really went. right now i must help duk duk find a bag big enough for our sign so we can keep it dry because the baggies we found 4 our heads are way too small.

hee hee hee, i know everything is really cool, right chocobot? me n duk duk googled the translation and made our sign and mom fit me and found some leather and suede to make my luchador mask and gauntlets n everything! i am so excited - we are totally ready for halloween!

too bad u and lil pink puppy cannot join us 2nite to go trick or treating but i know u have been looking forward to princess fairy camp for like, forever! and if it is going 2 be cold out and mom makes me wear my hoodie at least i can stuff more candy in my pockets since u will not be there to help pull the wagon bcuz me n duk duk are totally going to ask for more treats so we can all share when u get back.

A four legged passerby that lingered too long in the United States of Baxter proved too much for the little kielbasa to handle without sounding his alarm and raising his defenses yesterday morning. Frenzied barking which from the outside I am sure just sounded like heckling. The kind of heckling that probably says more about Baxter than it does anything else...

hey, who showed u how to pee like that with your leg all up in the air sprinklin my mailbox post? nobuddy pees up there! don'tchoo know how to squat like the rest of us civilized dogs? and how come your mom didn't dress u up in a hoodie cuz i know it's cold out there. yeah u better move on before i go out there and show u how to do your business right...

I looked at the pictures I took of Baxter's morning heckle and realized Baxter's hackles have come a long way in the 2.5 years since we started this blog. Tiny chumley may still not be a menace 2 society, but it seems he has made significant progress in perfecting his butt mohawk.

Watch out world, if u pass by his house, know that this dog and his butt mohawk are hecklin u. :)

Cold gray weather yesterday meant I hardly saw hide nor hair of the little kielbasa. Tiny chumley burrowed deep under his blankies in my sewing room and spent most of his day by george, gently roasting as all little dachshunds like to do.

It hardly seemed right to disturb his little tropical oasis on his first true chilly day of the fall season, and so today, a post from warmer times - just a few weeks ago, when the little kielbasa and his curiosity crashed my message in a doxie photo shoot.

mom, instead of a message could u maybe put some snackies in there and then if u do may i please have one? or just the snackies would be fine too. :) :)
