dapper doxie duds: tip toe thru the cherry blossoms

Hey, it's me, Baxter, your roving rover reporter, reporting to you today from my mom's studio where it is apparently raining cherry blossoms.  Yep that's right, pretty cherry blossoms! Only these are not the messy real kind, but rather the kind u wear on happy spring days when u want to skip in the park with your friends or have giggle parties or whatever it is girls do, because this cherry blossom dud is for my friend Moxie.  I like it because not only is it very happy and festive but very simple and clean, and best of all, there is no flower stink.

In fact, the only thing I do not like about it is that it will not fit me.  But it will fit Moxie and that is what counts most, right?

Anyhoo, I hope you enjoyed this peekypoo at Moxie's dud. This is Baxter your roving rover reporter, wishing you a skippy and toot-terrific Tuesday!! :)

dapper doxie duds: springtoberfest

Hello my friends! It's me, Baxter, your roving rover reporter, reporting to you about the latest in springtoberfest fashion, fresh off my mom's sewing machine.  These happy duds are for my friends Quintin and Jewel, who ordered their duds way back when.  Lucky for mom and for Quintin and Jewel, their patience paid off because looky - here are their duds.

This time Jewel and Quintin wanted to celebrate their German heritage in true Octoberfest style.  So first up, a peek at Jewel's dirndl dud, a vision in oranges and green complete with a buckled ruffle edged bodice and removable skirt/apron  and yup your eyes are not fooling u, folk badger trim!

Now what's a boy to wear when his sister is wearing a dirndl?  Why, lederhosen of course!  Only just like me, Quintin is a mover and a shaker so u know, who needs pants?  So, to keep things nice and lederhoseny, mom made sure to piece in the seamlines and pipe them, and she made a reversible suspender placket featuring acorns and oak leaves, because Quintin and Jewel live very near the city of oaks. This lederhosen look is made from super soft pinwale corduroy and bound in bottomweight twill so Quintin can jump and bump with the mountain billy goats if he wants to, while Jewel collects edelweiss in the mountains.  Unfortunately for me, I am much bigger than Quintin otherwise I would model it for you. But maybe one day mom will make one for me, maybe even with suede or leather!

So that is it for this week in makey my friends! And I don't know about your plans for the weekend, but I think I've got some yodeling to do!  This is Baxter your roving rover reporter wishing you a wonderful yoldel-eh-eee-poooooooooo! :)

of bunnies, and timey wimey stuff

dear diary,
i am sorry i do not have much time to write today but i am busy practicing chasing bunnies for reasons i cannot divulge completely yet.

in other news, i am very excited about watching doctor who tonight and in honor of tonight's premiere i thought i would show u how things are progressing with the doctor who dud that my friend murphy ordered from my mom.  it was pretty much done, but there were a few accessories that mom wanted to make.  like  the timey wimey pocket locket that my mom finally finished as an optional accessory!  and yes if murphy decides to get it, i am pretty sure he is gonna have to promise not to touch it because like me, even though he might like to watch doctor who on television, he probably really does not have enough time to listen to him in person

oh, and there is one more optional accessory that mom made this past week, and that is the time wimey kinda chameleon pin, good for time traveling dogs and humans alike!  something tells me i am going to need my very own doctor who dud, because these accessories are super cool!!

anyhoo diary, i really must get back to operation bunny bun bun so hope u r having a wonderful saturday!!

toodleydoo!
b. :)

fashion sunday: the week in makey make review

"we interrupt our story this st. patrick's day to bring you this very important message from out story's sponsors.."

Oh, okay, is this thing on? Hello, my name is Baxter and you might already know me through my blog, facebook, or  twitter.   I am not a stinky girl, but I play one sometimes in stories like you've been following. And I sometimes do it to help my mom when she has made things that I need to model. And today, we are taking a break from our story because I have many things to model.  Here, let me show you...

This is the dud my mom just finished for my friend moxie's order.  Moxie is chocolate dapple girl whose fashion inspiration comes from royalty.  New royalty that is, because before  prince willam's wife married him and became the duchess of cambridge, she was plain ol kate middleton.  Who wasn't really plain or old really, just fresh and modern, simply styled and feminine without being too frou frou.  And so moxie's dud needed to be like that too.

Behind the scenes this past week, my mom also finished the duds ordered by my friends Penny and Leroy.  This time Penny wanted a play dud made from a pretty bubblegum pink princess crown print that she picked out herself, and she wanted ruffles too, so after i helped mom look for the perfect trim and coordinating fabrics to match,  I helped her make it! And model it of course!

Now, if your sister has a princess play dud , what do you think you should have if you were her brother?  Yup, you guessed it, a piratey play dud, because how else are you going to be able to place princess and pirate together?

And can u keep a secret, my friends?  Because I can tell you these duds are very fun to play in and you can even add things from your very own closet - like ohhh...

a pretty purple flower crown so you can sit by the window and watch the butterflies and airplanes fly by with your very best friend...

or, soon-to-be-fresh in mom's etsy shop,  a super cool pirate hat so you can arrrrrrrr the seven seas! (I hope to help mom put them on etsy Etsy early this week starting maybe even as early as tonight so be on the lookout for the red alert doot doot dooty doot!)

Okey dokey, well that is it for today.  Boy am I pooped, and not even in a snakey sort of way! I hope u enjoyed looking at all the things I helped mom make this past weel and I hope you have a wonderful coming week!! :)

dapper doxie duds: outdoor adventures with lucy

Today a peekypoo at a harness I was able to finish earlier in the week, for Nikki's sister Lucy, a sweet girl who loves to walk thru puddles and climb on rocks with her sister and mom. And who happens to love Snoopy. :)

Lucy's dud is made with a curved pieced mix of cotton prints and hand dyes, and embellished with reflective piping.  Ever so daring, she and her mom also opted for an experimental water resistant finish that hopefully will help keep her tummy strap nice n dry as she skips from puddles to puddles.

Tiny chumley, of course, wanted to do his best to help with the photo shoot, but alas with his trim trim diet he is now no longer big kielbasa on the block, and he sat happily on the sidelines until it became evident that he was not going to get any snackie credit at all for this shoot.  At which point tiny godzilla came to down, and traipsed and traipsed until finally a noise outside the window turned Baxzilla into the Barkinator. :)

hello lucy n nikki! i am sorry i could not model your dud for you but I hope u love love love it! :) :)

dapper doxie duds: for my sporty friend pele :)

The crafty ramp up has been much slower than I anticipated during my dad's recovery process and to all those looking to order or are already in queue for a dapper doxie dud, I am ever so thankful for your patience.  Good things, I promise, come to those who wait.

yippee, speaking of waiting  - pele, this super cool new sporty dud's for you, my friend.  i hope u likey likey!! :) :)

dapper doxie duds: anthropologically speaking

Today a peekypoo at a happy little purple corduroy dud with cotton lace, velvet trim, and freshwater pearl embellishment that I finished for Gabby in early November but was not able to photograph until now.

tiny chumley,  of course, was more than ready to hwup and hwup his way into some snackie modeling time and performed ever so wonderfully yesterday, despite the fact that Gabby's tiny dud hardly fit him at all.

hwuuuuuup - hee hee, hey duk duk - can u please get me some safety pins bcuz based on how much velcro i see by the chest strap, this whole dud might blow any min--  no i do not need to go on a diet anymore and u cannot eat my gummy worms bcuz the tushie man said my weight was fine now and -- hwuuuuup - hurreeee - if i do this we can all get snackies!! :) :)

dapper doxie duds: Jake & Mia Mae :)

It's been crafty busy here this past week with the little kielbasa, developing new ideas for hats and paper goodies, attending metals class, tidying up for weekend guests, and of course, working on dapper doxie duds...

Jake: Retro Golf Shirt with a modern color twist.  Horizontally striped performance golf shirting in Indigo & thundercloud gray, bound in indigo denim and embellished wit snackie pocket and buttons.  Great for wandering along train tracks with your friends and family in search of adventure. :)

Mia Mae: Simply Stated.  Hand dyed Aqua widewale corduroy with mod geometric trim and button embellishment, bound in dark brown cotton.  And happy snackie pocket.

Happy Sunday!  :)

dapper doxie duds: the happy gent

...but pa, do mary's chores too?? but you know that nellie oleson is so mean! she's lucky i could only fit one poopie snake in her lunch bucket! oh where's that willie? i bet he's the one that tattled on me.  i'm gonna give him such a pinch, fiddle dee dee. and then i'm going to make jam and climb trees and do my homework on the back of a shovel!

Hee hee, oh why hello, it's me, Baxer, your roving rover reporter,  practicing a scene from our new play, Little House on the Poopie, which me and duk duk are mostly kind of making up as we go along because somedukkie left a certain book out in the rain and well let's just say the story is condensed in a whole different way than Reader's Digest would do it if you know what I mean.  But anyhoo, this play would not be complete without the proper costumes and lucky for us, mom finished my friend Bernerd's first happy new dud and since he is smaller than me, well, u know the story by now, only I realized when u put it on your head backward, it's a totally prairie-ville, isn't it?

But enough about me and what I'll be doing today, here's a peeky poo at my friend Bernerd's new winter woolen dud with vintage necktie quilted embellishment, lucky squirrel charm, and hand dyed cotton interior! And if I do say so myself, it's very gent-errific, isn't it?  I only wish I could fit it better because then I could have been like, Sherlock Hounds or oh I dunno, Barkaby Jones or something.  But the good news at least Bernerd can be!

This is Laura Ing- I mean Baxter your roving rover reporter wishing you a very happy super Sunday! :)

dapper doxie duds: sporty spice monkey

Hello friends, it's me, Baxter, your roving rover reporter, reporting to you today about  - yep u guessed it -  another happy dud my mom just finished!  This dud is for my smooth red friend Donut, who needed an everyday dud that was sporty and girly but not too girly.  And so ta-daaaa - here it is - Donut's dud, which I like to call the sporty spice monkey because not only does it have the sporty outdoor material but it also has happy purpley cotton plaid and some girly velvet piping - and a super cool monkey charm that Donut picked because her nickname is monkey!  Total girl power, right?

And in a pinch,  Donut's dud also makes a wonderful hat for when it rains - although I hope it doesn't rain today because me n lil pink puppy totally want to do another tea party with the little misses.

Anyhoo, that is my report for today and I hope you like it and Donut's dud very much.  This is Baxter your roving rover reporter - and lil pink puppy -  wishing you a very happy Sunday! :)

dapper doxie duds: much ado about something

but,  mom, if i wear nikki's new dud on my head like this i cannot wear this pretty flower crown i found in our play closet from when me n lulu were doing our pirate skit and i think it would go very well with nikki's new dud, dontchoo think?  and  i think i can fit it if i hwuuup hard enough,  and once i am dressed as  purple princess queen of the forest, i can recite the speech i wrote, u know, so it will be an interactive modelling session.  please? it will be so fun...oh yippee! okay will be right back!

(HWUUUUUUP! o thank u duk duk for helping my get my crown on...okay places everybuddy...)

"O friends and loyal subjects of the purple forest, we cometh here today to celebrate a new dud for my friend Nikki, who merrily is fond of climbing rocks and roaming the mountains of her native wilderness with her fair sister Lucy, and thus she did require a simple dud that was outdoorsy girly but not too frou frou - " (vroom, skreeeeee!)

hey wait, was that??? do u hear what I hear??

(bark bark brik brak bark bow wow wowbark bark brik brak ribba ribba bow wow) hey, up here, man in brown! yeah  u know i'm barkin atchoo! (brik brik woof woof ribba ribba) i'm ruff and i'm tuff even in purple flowers and yeah just leave that package and run off now cuz i'm that scary.  (rowr rowr arf woof arf) yeah dat's what i'm talkin bout.  barkatchoo next time too, scaredy pants! dapper doxie duds: fun with Leroy and Penny

Hey, it's me, Baxter, your roving rover reporter and guess what - do you remember my friend penny who ordered the very happy Fun wth Dick and Jane pink gingham dud with the pretty trim and rick rack from my mom?  Well somepuppy else has had to wear that dud out in public lately because he does not have a dud of his own and you see well he is not just any puppy because he is Penny's new brother and my new friend Leroy!

Yup, Leroy totally needed a dud all of his own and this is him, trying on his sister's dud as part of the process for my mom to figure out what adjustments to make to the pattern for his dud. Leroy was such a trooper for his fitting because as you can see he was still getting used to the idea of having such a wonderful forever home.

Now, after wearing his sister's dud, Leroy said he liked the idea of it being a Fun with Dick and Jane sort of dud to coordinate stylistically with Penny's dud, but you know, maybe more Dick and less Jane.  And what do little boys wear when they see spot run?  Why, a plaid shirt of course! And if they are lucky like Leroy is, it'd be a shirt dud with a snackie pocket and removable bow tie, so you know, that way Leroy can take his school pictures dressed the way his mom wants him to, but spend the rest of the school day dressed the way he wants to, prepared as always to put bugs and snackies in his pocket for safe keeping.  Oh and it would be lined in a really cool puppy print, because puppies are cool.

So there you have it - Leroy's new dud!  Oh wait, what was that? You're right, Leroy might not know how very versatile his new dud can be because he is new to the world of duds and his sister is a girl.  So let me just show you, Leroy, there are many more ways to wear your dud than just how the ladies in your new household might want you to wear your dud.  In fact, me and duk duk will now show you a total of four looks you might want to try when you take your school pictures this year.  Only well, you might want to know ahead of time that maybe only one of them is guaranteed not to endanger your wii privileges if you know what I mean. Can you guess which one?

Hee hee, this is Baxter your roving rover reporter wishing everbuddy a very happy Monday!! :)

dapper doxie duds: ready, set, vrooom!

Why hello, it's me, Baxter, your roving rover reporter, earning my kibble today in super easy fashion because I'm here to talk to you about the duds my mom made for Rocky and Penny, who happen to be a lot smaller than me and so I can only barely model Penny's dud and that was with a lot of hwoopin to suck in my tummy if you know what I mean and so mom said I could just write my report and still earn my snackies.

So enough about me, about bout those duds? You see, Rocky and Penny are planning to go to the dachshund races and of course they needed super cool sporty duds with a winning edge, right?  You know, the kind with a swooshy champion nascar checkerboard flag print, edged in safety reflective piping and maybe a menacing skull patch with some flames, just to you know, intimidate the competition? Yup, that would be Rocky's dud I'm talking about and here it is!

Now say you're a girl and you still want to be just as intimidating but you still want to be cute when u make it into the winner's circle?  Well, if you are Penny, maybe you would wear a similarly swooshy styled dud as Rocky's, but, with say kawaii cute skeleton kitty patch with a heart on it on the outside and a pretty rose print inside.  Cuz that would be so cool and yet so scary, right? :)

Anyhoo, I hope u liked seeing the duds my mom made for Rocky and Penny and I am trying hard not to be so envious that Rocky n Penny get to go to the dachshund races this year.  Although mom reminded me that I did not exactly know what to do when I had a chance to practice for a different race a few years ago.  Hee hee, if I ever get to go, I guess I really need to practice knowing which way to run.

This is Baxter your roving rover reporter, wishing Rocky and Penny good luck, hello to Bogey and Remy (whose mom runs the race!) and everybuddy else a super duper Saturday!! :)

dapper doxie duds: oscar's cute cute happy monsters :)

Hello! It's me, Baxter, your roving rover reporter! Well, it's me reporting, not me in the picture,  because the super cool pup you see over there to your left is actually my friend Oscar, who was rescued more than a year ago after being abandoned with his brothers in a box, all starved and unhealthy. But lucky for him (and I think the others), they all got new homes just like I did! And because Oscar's old harness chafed him so, his mom came to my mom to request his very first custom dud. Yippee, right?

Now,Oscar's mom said that if Oscar would be a person, he'd be a toddler, because he always acts like a little kid and can be very skittish and runs from strangers when they come in the house but once he warms up to you, he turns into a giant cuddle bug. And when he gets excited, he grabs a toy and runs circles around the house, and he also spins around in little circles! So yeah you know Oscar needed the right fabric to match his personality, right? Which is why Oscar's new dud is all super fresh super cute monsters in the happy fun colors of mint and teal and gray and orange and yellow!  I think he will look very dapper in it dontchoo? And I really like his enameled squirrel charm, too.

So anyhoo, that is my report for today and Oscar, if you do not mind I will be sending your dud shortly because me n DJs Skillit Hedd n Maus in DaHaus n OttoPiLot are in the middle of writing our next song but I promise I take the time to take it off and mail it out just as soon as we are through in just a little bit, ok? :) :)

This is Baxter your roving rover reporter wishing you a most wonderful Wednesday! :)

dapper doxie dud: secret robo dog!

so mom my idea was we would do something like this.  wait- let me clear -  a-a-a-hem - okay.
(en voce meccanica artificiale)

meep meep boop beep beep!
this is robo-baxter from the planet poopiter.
please take me to your snackie jar now or i will use my super duper foofie rays to..

what? no mom i would not actually foofie up jasper's super swell new everyday playdud made from space blue 420 denier pack cloth with robot charm and secret super cute robot fabric inside bcuz u would make stunt dud and that way when it comes to the next scene where robo-baxter and mechatron fight over who has ultimate control of the snackie jar that determines the fate of all the snackie jars of planet earth, we will not have to worry about, u know, getting jasper's new dud all messed up from the molten lava and nuclear fallout snow that we will have made from the gallons of  honey and ketchup and mashed potatoes and stuff that we would need to buy. and then...oh what?  he wants his dud before the summer is over?  sigh. well, okay, we can model it your way...this time.

hee hee hee, i hope u likey likey your new robo-dud, my friend jasper!! and please say hello to your visitor harley for me :) :)

dapper doxie duds: fun with pearls and snackies

but mom, it's for penny from stuff on my wiener.  i want to wear it like this so everone will...okay, i will put it on right..

(hwuuuuuuuuup!)

Why hello my friends, it's me, Baxter, your roving rover reporter reporting to you today about the pretty dud my mom made for Penny, who you guess by now might be the same Penny from Stuff on My Wiener, because, well, she is!  I'm modeling her super new summer dud.  Let me take a turn around here so we look at it, shall we?

So here we have a pretty pink gingham cotton fabric bound in turquoisey aqua and white polka dot binding and not only is there really cool ribbon and rick rack on it, but there is also a vintage turquoise colored button flower on the snackie pocket! And to make the dud even more special, there is a sterling silver and pretty pink freshwater pearl dangle drop! Do not tell duk duk but  I really like this dud,  because it is so fun and sweet and it reminds me of something u might see in that book we finished in school this past year - you know, Fun with Dick and Jane?  Only you know, fresh and modern. Just like Penny.

So anyhoo, that is my report for today because mom says we might be having another guest tonight. And here at the Baxter and Duk Duk Park N Bark Motel, it is my job to make sure all our guest spots are clean and tidy and foofie free.  Which means I have a lot of work to do considering what me n mario were doing during monkey chow munchies megamusic happy hour yesterday.

This is Baxter your roving rover reporter, wishing you a totally terrific Thursday!! :)

dapper doxie duds: Bucky Badger Bucky Jumpers

Buck-a-buck-a-roooooooooo!  It's Bucky Badger time, it's Bucky Badger time! Hee hee hee, hello my friends, it is me, Baxter, your roving rover reporter reporting to you today about the swell Bucky Badger dud my mom finished for my friend Linus.

Now, I have never really heard of this Bucky Badger fella, and I don't really know what badgers sound like, but he looks like he might sound like the kind of guy u do not want to cross, even if he buckadoodleroos if you know what I mean.  So, I think this Bucky guy probably has a lot of enemies and if a Bucky Badger friend does not live under Bucky's protection close to home in the faraway Land of W, well, then Bucky Badger friend like Linus might need to be subtle about showing his support for Bucky Badger.  Which is why mom says Linus's dud on the outside is a subdued, refined statement of Bucky affection while the inside is all I LOVE BUCKY BADGER!  And I don't know about you, but I LOVE HIS SNACKIE POCKET! Whoops, sorry, that was just my tummy talking, and even though I have a few more pounds to lose..boy is it telling me to..so hard to resist...okay okay...

(ssssnnnnnnniiiiifffffffffff!)

Oh salmon crunchiezzz. They smell so terriffic!  Um, this is (crunchy crunch) Baxter, your roving (crunch) rover reporter, wishing you (crunchy crunch crunch) a fond - whoops, didn't mean to spit crumbs on you - (crunch crunch gulp) bucka buckaroo!  :)

ps - Linus I hope you love your new dud and please say hi to Ike and send my best healing regards to  Otto :) :) <3
