baxter n duk duk's motel park n bark: friday night's alright for foofieing

dear diary,
yippeee! well wouldn'tchoo know it, me n duk duk's  friday night dj disco party for our motel park n bark guests mario and lulu was a success - even though me n and duk duk never did settle on who was dj scratch munkey and who was dj skillit head (yeah, aren't our dj names even more rapsta doogan when u spell them that way? i just thought of that :) ). 

so mom finally shut down our party on account of all the foofie wafting upstairs which actually was good bcuz we were all really tired and so everybuddy slept on the sofa (except mario who slept on his own sofa in his bowl) til it was time to go upstairs at which point i showed lulu to her to the park n bark luxury guest chair bcuz she says with all her long hair she likes to sleep by herself without any covers or anything and then we all said goodnight. luckily, with no kissing involved. well, on me at least.  from lulu. but mom kissed everybuddy goodnight which i guess was okay.

anyhoo, i am sorry to say i think lulu and mario's stays will be ending sometime today but hopefully before they leave and if it is not too hot out, we can all go for peanut butter gelato, so although i am sad to see our guests leave,  i am very excited about that. :)

the air out there

I love tiny chumley's humble little ways and make do spirit. How he patiently waits when his humans are busy and how he grooms his little toes every night after he gets in bed with us.  And how little things, like the seemingly crazy act of opening the window on a super hot day, can mean the world to him.

mmmmmmm! i smell tomatoes, and i smell bunnies, and ooo - can you feel that wonderful warm air whooshing between your whiskers? :)

Why hello my friends, it's me, Baxter, your roving rover reporter reporting to you today about the pretty dud my mom made for Penny, who you guess by now might be the same Penny from Stuff on My Wiener, because, well, she is!  I'm modeling her super new summer dud.  Let me take a turn around here so we look at it, shall we?








So here we have a pretty pink gingham cotton fabric bound in turquoisey aqua and white polka dot binding and not only is there really cool ribbon and rick rack on it, but there is also a vintage turquoise colored button flower on the snackie pocket! And to make the dud even more special, there is a sterling silver and pretty pink freshwater pearl dangle drop! Do not tell duk duk but  I really like this dud,  because it is so fun and sweet and it reminds me of something u might see in that book we finished in school this past year - you know, Fun with Dick and Jane?  Only you know, fresh and modern. Just like Penny.

So anyhoo, that is my report for today because mom says we might be having another guest tonight. And here at the Baxter and Duk Duk Park N Bark Motel, it is my job to make sure all our guest spots are clean and tidy and foofie free.  Which means I have a lot of work to do considering what me n mario were doing during monkey chow munchies megamusic happy hour yesterday.

my friend mario: bubble trouble

hey everybuddy, whatchoo lookin at? is mario doing that cool thing again where he stares atchoo and puffs his cheeks up? i really hope he can come visit again when the circus bears come to town again cuz that would be such a cool thing to add to our sideshow.

so many bubbles! and they were not here just a couple of days ago.

and duk duk, u did not...u know, make bubbles in there either, right?

and chocobot was with me playing thunderpoops n ladders all day so hmmmmmm.....


 maybe mario ate too much monkey chow munchies and foofied up his own water!!

do not worry, mario something something obi wan kenobi, the scene is safe! i am going getchoo some of my emergency pepcid and soon your tummy will be as good as new. 

come on duk duk, chocobot, n lil pink puppy, i am going to need all your help to open the drawer under the washer where mom keeps my medicine because even though it is very low it is very heavy.

why no, mom.  everything is fine.  we are just going to mario some medicine to help with his foofie tummy because as you can see he is bubbling up his bowl and considering his water is like our air i bet that really stinks -- what? oh?? really?

godzilla vs goretex

It was all in the name of crafty science that I set up my experiment with the water resistant fabric samples I had received in the mail yesterday.  Taking the time to organize them by color and type then get my glass of water,  and lay them out carefully on the floor in the only spot of sunlight immediately available, right on tiny chumley's vacant bed.  Unusually vacant for this tummy tanning time of day, because the little kielbasa had chosen to sit beside me instead, hoping as he always did that there was something yet inside the envelope especially for him and his rumbly little tummy. 

Drip drip drip. While tiny chumley sat in rapt attention, I made sure every swatch got a hefty few drops of water.  And we saw the drops miraculously beaded on each surface, creating little orbs of glistening goodness. 

"Oooo yes! Well baby dog, to complete our experiment,  we'll need to let the water sit for a few min-- heyyyy" I fell back as Baxter left our tiny tuffet, jaunty trundling away from me with a proverbial lightbulb floating high above his tiny noggin.  "Where are you going little friend? Oh no, waiiit!"

There wasn't much I could do besides grab my camera and watch as my new hatched micro godzilla traipsed and trodded through my experiment like a tiny model town of Tokyo.

rawrrr! rawrrr! (tromp tromp)  take that you - eew, my paw just got wet  (shakey shake) rawrrrr! rawrrrr!

okay mom, i think that's good. is your experiment done now? :)

(okay, dad. his name is what again?...wow, really? are you sure?... okay. okay. no, do not worry, we got dis. me n duk duk promised the next door little misses sarah and julia we would take care of their pet fish while they were away at summer camp and a promise is a promise.  plus we can earn our inches in ichthyology and homies in hospitality chipscout badges all at the same time! okay lemme go greet our guest...)

why hello, mario something something something obi wan kenobi! my what a pretty tail you have. me and duk duk will be taking care of you all week long while your moms are away, so please, relax and enjoy your stay and let me know if there is anything me or duk duk can get you to help make you comfortable in our home.  which, really, probably doesn't feel much different than your home because well technically you are still in your home but your home is located in our home for now so yes, if there is anything me or duk duk can do for you, mario something something something obi wan kenobi, just let me or duk duk know. and, don't forget - we will be offering complimentary monkey chow munchies during our megamusic happy hours here in the kitchen every day from 5pm to 6pm, and continental poopie snake snackfasts in the mornings from 9am to 10 am, with additional delicious tomato snackies available on the deck outside anytime.  i hope you enjoy your stay with us and if you need anything, mario something something something obi wan kenobi, my name is baxter! :) :)

my doxie treasures: vintage doxies

 

Well hello boys and girls, it's me, Baxter, your roving rover reporter reporting to you today to show you a few more of the doxie treasures here at my house.  Now, I really don't have much to say about them other than, well, here they are and I guess they are pretty cool but no, apparently you and your dukfriend cannot pack them to trade with on your piratey adventures nor should you try unless you want your wii taken away from you for the rest of the day.  Which is why I am reporting to you today, if you know what I mean.

Anyhoo, seeings how we have plenty of time on our hands today, me n duk duk n chocobot n lil pink puppy all thought it would be a great idea to add to the doxie treasures treasure chest by carving a statue of me, out of soap! Which would also be a bonus because once we finish, there would be one less bar to take a bath with.



Anyanyhoo, I have been working on my pose and think this might be a good one, but if you have any ideas, please feel free to let me know. This is Baxter your roving rover reporter wishing you the star shiniest of Sundays! :)

tomorrow we can always harvest more

Tempted by the rumblies in his tummy, tiny chumley teetered on naughtydom when we finally came back inside to oooh and ahh over the tomato bounty that was yesterday's harvest, certain that he deserved more than the four tomatoes that he already had while we were outside harvesting and anxious to increase that number to 

...five or six or seven or eight or...well, why not the whole bowl, mom?? tomorrow we can always harvest more :):)

Tiny chumley decided he was feeling a little wolfy yesterday, playing quietly by my side in the morning and carefully nibbling away at his headless chipmunk toyfriend's extremities before ptooing them all aside in search of it crunchy squeaky center, which he also ptooed eventually, with tail wagging sated delight.

twenty three, mom! it takes twenty three bites to get to the crunchy center of mister chipmunk!! :)

hooray, mom says i have been so good with taking pictures of our new happy hound hats  for etsy that i am going to get a special treat today. i hope this means i will be getting a snackie  or two or three or...oooo i know what i want! and, i finally have a chance to prove to duk duk that all those afternoons of us watching aquaman instead of scooby doo was worth it. okay, lemme try to...

With weather this past weekend even in the early morning and late evening still too hot for walkies, sometimes all one can do to help a little kielbasa enjoy his summer is to harvest the Big Tomato outside his window,  and let him gnaw away to his tummy's content...

etsy fresh: happy hound party & pirate hats

Yippee! A few weeks ago while browsing on Etsy, I realized there was a big little something missing from the crafty world.  Happy little hats, made especially to fit a variety of sizes of our stubby legged sausage dog friends, even wiggly ones like Baxter's little friend Lulu.

And so, after a few weeks of toiling away behind the scenes developing and making making making,  happy little handmade hats are finally starting to find their way the etsy shop.  The kind of happy little hats that every waggy tailed dachshund needs to blow out the candles on their very own birthday cake, party with their toyfriends, and sail away on special happy go lucky summer adventures.










The little kielbasa and I will be taking a break from blogging this weekend so we can finish our etsy work, but we'll be back on Tuesday with more happy go lucky adventures.

my visit with lulu & happy 4th of july!

dear diary,
hooray! yesterday my friend lulu came to visit for the day and i got to show her all the favorite things i like to do in the summer, like sniff the morning air from my open window and eat my daily tomato and why, yes,  we even did a little pirate training.  well, okay it started off as pirate training but somehow it turned into a garden tea party.  which lil pink puppy n chocobot were all excited about but for me n duk duk, not so much if u know what i mean. but lulu was our guest so you know, instead of there being a lot of arrrrr mateys like i was hopin,  the conversation was all, wouldjoo like one lump or two, and, fiddle dee dee, weren't the monkey chow scones with clotted cream just deee-lightful? (okay, don't tell duk duk but yes they were and boy i hope lulu makes them again sometime. and no i do not need a sister or a girlfriend.)

anyhoo, diary, i am really glad i got to spend time with my friend lulu and i am also glad that today is the 4th of july because u know what that means - it's grillin time! and it means i must run and help my dad by licking stuff off the deck so sadly, i must now bid you a fond...

dapper doxie duds: Bucky Badger Bucky Jumpers

Buck-a-buck-a-roooooooooo!  It's Bucky Badger time, it's Bucky Badger time! Hee hee hee, hello my friends, it is me, Baxter, your roving rover reporter reporting to you today about the swell Bucky Badger dud my mom finished for my friend Linus.

Now, I have never really heard of this Bucky Badger fella, and I don't really know what badgers sound like, but he looks like he might sound like the kind of guy u do not want to cross, even if he buckadoodleroos if you know what I mean.  So, I think this Bucky guy probably has a lot of enemies and if a Bucky Badger friend does not live under Bucky's protection close to home in the faraway Land of W, well, then Bucky Badger friend like Linus might need to be subtle about showing his support for Bucky Badger.  Which is why mom says Linus's dud on the outside is a subdued, refined statement of Bucky affection while the inside is all I LOVE BUCKY BADGER!  And I don't know about you, but I LOVE HIS SNACKIE POCKET! Whoops, sorry, that was just my tummy talking, and even though I have a few more pounds to lose..boy is it telling me to..so hard to resist...okay okay...

the hungry games: strawberry vs blueberry

Well hello again my friends, it's me, Baxter, chief yummyologist and roving rover science reporter reporting to you today with the result from our first ever trials in the Hungry Game. Shall we jump right to it? The first test was strawberry versus blueberry. And the question is, which one will I want to eat first?  My tummy says...

Hee hee, yeah that was too easy, right? But they were both very delicious, let me assure you.  Now, the second test would be a little trickier to guess if u knew that I am right pawed and therefore tend to choose the thing that is on my the right side.  Will I go for the one piece of kibble on my right, or break with tradition and choose more?  My tummy says...

 

 But wait, if I chose strawberries over blueberries and chose more over less, what will I do when faced with the difficult decision in this next test between more blueberries and less strawberries? The answer?   

 

Well my friends, that is all my diet will allow me to test for now, but do not worry, I am certain we will be playing this game again and when I do, my tummy and I will be sure to report about it to you. Why hello, it's me, Baxter, your chief yummyologist and roving rover science reporter.   I'm here today to report to you on a special new segment I like to call The Hungry Games.  And it's all about someone I know very well - me! Only here in the Hungry Games, I'm turning the tables and asking you how well you know me - or your own pup! 

To play along in the Hungry Games is really easy, because all you have to do is guess which snackie I or your pup will eat first in each test.  Today there are three tests - strawberry vs blueberry, one vs three pieces of kibble, and three blueberries vs one strawberry.  Do you think you know the answers?
