dapper doxie duds: fun with Leroy and Penny

Hey, it's me, Baxter, your roving rover reporter and guess what - do you remember my friend penny who ordered the very happy Fun wth Dick and Jane pink gingham dud with the pretty trim and rick rack from my mom?  Well somepuppy else has had to wear that dud out in public lately because he does not have a dud of his own and you see well he is not just any puppy because he is Penny's new brother and my new friend Leroy!

Yup, Leroy totally needed a dud all of his own and this is him, trying on his sister's dud as part of the process for my mom to figure out what adjustments to make to the pattern for his dud. Leroy was such a trooper for his fitting because as you can see he was still getting used to the idea of having such a wonderful forever home.

Now, after wearing his sister's dud, Leroy said he liked the idea of it being a Fun with Dick and Jane sort of dud to coordinate stylistically with Penny's dud, but you know, maybe more Dick and less Jane.  And what do little boys wear when they see spot run?  Why, a plaid shirt of course! And if they are lucky like Leroy is, it'd be a shirt dud with a snackie pocket and removable bow tie, so you know, that way Leroy can take his school pictures dressed the way his mom wants him to, but spend the rest of the school day dressed the way he wants to, prepared as always to put bugs and snackies in his pocket for safe keeping.  Oh and it would be lined in a really cool puppy print, because puppies are cool.

So there you have it - Leroy's new dud!  Oh wait, what was that? You're right, Leroy might not know how very versatile his new dud can be because he is new to the world of duds and his sister is a girl.  So let me just show you, Leroy, there are many more ways to wear your dud than just how the ladies in your new household might want you to wear your dud.  In fact, me and duk duk will now show you a total of four looks you might want to try when you take your school pictures this year.  Only well, you might want to know ahead of time that maybe only one of them is guaranteed not to endanger your wii privileges if you know what I mean. Can you guess which one?

Hee hee, this is Baxter your roving rover reporter wishing everbuddy a very happy Monday!! :)

public service announcement: EBS

oh, we are ready?  wait, is this thing on?  okay -  a-a-ahem...

Hello, it's me, Baxter, and this is my toyfriend duk duk.  Normally we're here to tell you all about our happy go lucky adventures but today, we've got our serious faces on because we are here to speak out about a problem which affects gazillions of tummies around the world, including our very own.   It is simply called the Empty Bowl Syndrome, or EBS. And it is exactly what you think it is.

Prolonged  EBS can lead to a variety of other conditions including irritability, barkiness, quackiness, tummy noise, begging, and worst of all, hunger.

This Sunday, if you see an empty bowl, fill it. And stamp out hungry forever.

Thank you for your time and attention.

Paid for by Dogs and duks Against Empty Bowl Syndrome (DdAEBS).

dirt beard

Even though the evidence was everywhere on his face and paws, one little wiener dog mightily hopeful that  he could get away without participating in the inevitable.

but mom, baths are for babies and dogs who have been digging, and clearly, i am not either.   :) :)

a happy dog lives here :)

When tiny chumley first came to live with us, he had no idea that the low and very kielbasa friendly windows in the front of our house would become one of his favorite places to be.  The tummy warming sun first drew the little kielbasa to this special place, and kept him there long enough to see that there was more to this spot than just a chance to warm his little loafy body. It was also a place upon which he could observe his new and unfamiliar world.

Soon his puppy like quiet observation gave way to occasional barks, which grew in frequency and intensity as his sense of home and place also grew.   As his roots grew deep, so too did his role as finely tuned barking machine,  letting us know from these windows when there was even the slightest change to the lands he now claimed under his jurisdiction to protect.

I am not exactly sure when it was the first time nose met glass during his barking tirades, but I know it happened sometime after he promoted himself from junior lieutenant to grand poohbah of all he surveys.  Now our windows are often graced with an ankle high layer of smudgy schnoz marks, and I am endearingly reminded that a happy dog lives here, in a home he calls his own. :)

i like digging :)

Even though every day is a great day to be a dachshund, I think for a certain little happy go lucky boy on a mission, yesterday proved to be rather exceptionally so. :)

scenes from a super sunday (part 1)

hee hee, well little miss julia, i certainly like the idea of a red pair of eyeglasses for school, but do u think the glittery hearts are really me?  o and i like your light up ring by the way - u totally need to wear it to our tea party that we are so going to throw!!

little eeyore

It has been many moons now since the little kielbasa first learned how to sit on command.  I remember the concept was actually one of the harder things for him to learn at first, til one day during our  AKC good citizen training class when he was learning to cope with supervised separation, he apparently plopped his tushie down for the instructor's helper while I waited for him in another room, and that was that.  With hind legs parallel, square on the ground and neatly tucked under, sit was forever imprinted as a very quick tushie plop, with no allowance given for sloppy side rump sitting, no chance for both hiney legs to peek out from one side or the other.

But since our class five years or so ago, we've both gotten a little lax in our training, and though the tushie plop remains a signature move for a sit, Baxter's little hiney legs and toes often peek out the front, and he becomes my little Eeyore. :)

dapper doxie duds: ready, set, vrooom!

Why hello, it's me, Baxter, your roving rover reporter, earning my kibble today in super easy fashion because I'm here to talk to you about the duds my mom made for Rocky and Penny, who happen to be a lot smaller than me and so I can only barely model Penny's dud and that was with a lot of hwoopin to suck in my tummy if you know what I mean and so mom said I could just write my report and still earn my snackies.

So enough about me, about bout those duds? You see, Rocky and Penny are planning to go to the dachshund races and of course they needed super cool sporty duds with a winning edge, right?  You know, the kind with a swooshy champion nascar checkerboard flag print, edged in safety reflective piping and maybe a menacing skull patch with some flames, just to you know, intimidate the competition? Yup, that would be Rocky's dud I'm talking about and here it is!

Now say you're a girl and you still want to be just as intimidating but you still want to be cute when u make it into the winner's circle?  Well, if you are Penny, maybe you would wear a similarly swooshy styled dud as Rocky's, but, with say kawaii cute skeleton kitty patch with a heart on it on the outside and a pretty rose print inside.  Cuz that would be so cool and yet so scary, right? :)

Anyhoo, I hope u liked seeing the duds my mom made for Rocky and Penny and I am trying hard not to be so envious that Rocky n Penny get to go to the dachshund races this year.  Although mom reminded me that I did not exactly know what to do when I had a chance to practice for a different race a few years ago.  Hee hee, if I ever get to go, I guess I really need to practice knowing which way to run.

This is Baxter your roving rover reporter, wishing Rocky and Penny good luck, hello to Bogey and Remy (whose mom runs the race!) and everybuddy else a super duper Saturday!! :)

oh good duk duk 's here!  mister rainbow manhands, duk duk.  duk duk, mister rainbow manhands. okay, now let's see, you have a squeaky, right? check!   and you're stuffed with fluff?  check! okay you pass but now we need to really get down to brass poops.  now the first rule of toyfriend club is...

etsy fresh: it's beginning to look a lot like christmas!

Well hello, it's me, Baxter, your roving rover reporter, reporting to you today on a very unususal but very welcome arrival to my house - Christmas! You see some of the goodies I have been helping my mom work on have finally arrived from the printers and yep u guessed it, I am very happy to show you two new additions to my collection of Christmas cards on Etsy this year.  Do you want to see?

This is the tidings of comfort and joy card.  I think it will be good for everybuddy, but especially those who u know, need or want to send comfort and joy this year.  And it is red and for some reason, there do not seem to be a lot of lovely red Christmas cards out there, especially ones with dachshunds on them done in a fresh modern and simple way :)

Hee hee hee, and this is me, enjoying the merry in merry christmas and wishing everyone a Merry Christmas to All, and to all a good night! I like this card too because it is you know, Christmas without being too Christmas and the colors are super cool.  And who can resist santa's little doxie with a red nose enjoying his megasaurus rawhide bone after a long night of delivering presents? :)

And last but not least, ta daah -  it's baaaaack, and all new for 2013 - the tiny chumley tiny budgety desk calendar!  I asked mom if we could get an early start and make then now because really September will just fly by and so will October and next thing u know, it will be Thanksgiving and then there will be only two weeks before Christmas and who knows how busy the post office will be especially if u live far away and why worry when you can just get yours now and put it in a safe place and even have time to get more if you decide to give away or keep the one you get now ?

Well my friends, I hope you enjoyed my report on what's new in my mom's etsy shop and sadly I must get ready to go to my Differential Equations for Dachshunds Class but if anybuddy has the time, can you please let me know if u think golden poopie snakes or glittered gummy worms would look better on our new Christmas tree?  Or maybe both if done u know, tastefully?  This is Baxter your roving rover reporter wishing you a very merry weekend! :)

PS - listing the 5 packs are on my mom's todo list but if you are looking for quantities larger than one, please feel free to etsy convo and i will help u! :)
