slow basted
As how a good braise develops succulently tender short ribs, some things should never be rushed. Baxter planted himself on the landing of our stairwell yesterday and would have grown deep roots had he not gradually turned, rotisserie style, as the sun slowly made its way to the horizon. Not a bad plan for everyday living, if I do say so myself.

How long did Baxter stay on his back? I've never seen a dachshund sleep like that before.
hi elizabeth! hard to say. I was working on recovering an office chair in the foyer and just took an occasional picture every now and then. Probably not more than a few minutes. That position isn't his most sound sleeping position nowadays. Baxter used to do more tummy side up sleeping when he was younger and more rotund. I think back then he had more padding all around to keep him comfortable.
Hey Glee has been fun to watch. It makes Weds TV night something to look forward to....
You're right, when Oskar dozes on his back, head and legs every-which-way, he isn't sleeping deeply. We especially enjoy when he leans upside down against the baseboard, absorbing to last fleeting rays of sun. He often looks like a discarded rag doll, tossed aside. Perish the thought!!
Lucy used to sleep on her back most the time when she was a puppy. And since my husband hurt his back in Iraq, shes developed quite a liking for the heating pad too. Right now shes all contorted and lying in the sun. She follows it around the house too.
Baxter looks so sweet!! i love it!
Hi, Baxter!
I am always looking for the sunny spots in my house! Even when we have 110 degrees!
Sleeping on my back is not my fav position either!
Kisses and hugs

This has to be another one of my favorite posts! Twix is a sun lover too...but you probably already know that. She does sleep on her back pretty soundly when she is under the covers between me and her dad.
I love the way you present things here. And you always have gorgeous photos. I am not quite so talented but I do love blogging from Twix's perspective!
Twix's Mom
thanks, twix! I hope u read this because I have a confession to make. You posted about your dilemmas with blogging, and I just now realized one of the reasons I don't always visit everyone else's blog often is because I start developing a case of blog envy and questioning my work, and next thing u know I get bloggers block. So, I'm not saying don't visit other people's blogs, but I am saying do what you love and your readers will love you back. I still fall to the occasional blog envy, but the blogging world is big enough for everybody and the perspective they bring. Loved the zoo pictures, by the way!!
