Some cheery finds from this weekend's flea market foray. Vintage aprons for a dollar each, in colors that make me wonder what the rest of the hostess's outfit looked like when she greeted her guests wearing apron and all. Tarnished religious medals, that I always find so infinitely cool in their detail and workmanship.
And swell piece of doxie art, the image of which I show here because tiny chumley was way more interested in standing on the picture than standing by it.
"Why look at him when u can look at me?," Baxter wanted to know,"And more importantly, when are we going back to the flea market again??"

Love the Catholic crucifixes and medals- great finds!!! My husband loves aprons too- one does wonder if the hostess wore black to offset the patterns-
Will be working on getting the measurements done tomorrow- Thai's sutures just came out today and I think he needs a day to get over the trauma of the VET!

What flea market do you go to? Same one all the time? Or different? I go to flea markets all the time when traveling, but haven't found one I like here in Chicago - although, we have an entire yard-sale season here, and I have found many treasures that way. The challenge with yard sales - you don't know if it will be any good or not, and then it's just that one day and never again.
My absolutely FAVORITE flea market is in Gallup, NM, because I buy a lot of Native American jewelry and crafts. Of course, I only get there once every few years or so... Perhaps I need a trip to your neck of the woods!
oh do go! u just never know what you'll find at the flea market! most markets nowadays can get kinda crowded with people selling new dollar store type stuff, but it's worth a scour and the one we usually goto nearby has maintained a fairly decent junk/treasure section depite the people selling new. It's not as big as one that's held monthly, about 4 hours away, but I like it because it junking here only takes a couple hours, most. It all just depends on who shows up. It would be super fun to do Broomfield one day, though I think the prices there would not encourage as many impulse buys.
A trip to our neck of the woods is always a welcome thing, Bludog! The dollar book guy had some amazing books. I'm not sure how regularly he shows up but boy we were happy he was there. I picked up a few books for my mom. (shh! birthday present!) Though I gotta say, I bet there are some extremely wonderful finds in Jersey and PA that I hope to one day investigate. I think a lot of our regular vendors pick from up there. My fabric guy wasn't there - boo hoo, a bit, because I obviously have tons of fabric already.
Do take your time with Thai - I'd hate for him to have a bad experience with the whole thing if he's still hurting! :) Black would be a good option for the hostess, but I'm wonderin if they opted for a fine poly jumpsuit a la Carol Brady, in the Greg moved into the attic years. Just stay away from the open flame...!
Grrrreat Flea Market finds. I Love the picture of Baxter with the Picture!!! I would have that one enlarged and framed and hung right by the original!!!
Oh for Heaven's sake! I remember the ladies wearing shirt-dresses (mostly short sleeved) and A-Line dresses in some great plaids, polka dots and sherbet colors with those aprons. Sometimes a smart pair of Capri pants with a cool popover top for casual days. There wasn't any shirking from prints even with the festive aprons! Black for day was a no-no. I miss that kind of stuff.

hi frankie furter - yeah that would be fun! i wonder if Baxter would want himself staring back at him while he eats dinner. hee - he must already think we are crazy for decorating his wall with more images of doxies. Like would he choose to decorate our home with pictures of humans if he could?

hey joey & maggie! I am wonderin. It could have been reframed but usually there is more vintage muck on the picture and this didn't have any. And the lady had a great dane and a couple of other dogs done by the same unknown person. Maybe it's a reprint. I thought for a sec that it was by the lady that did Barkis, but the style wasn't similar enough. That's about as sleuthy as I got, aside from ebaying dachshund print. It's so happy, I wonder what it would have advertised if it was one in its original run.

Yeah, its me! Oskar is doin' fine, but we've been going nuts lately getting the house on the market (Alabama MLS 322097...take the Visual Tour!) and over-seeing the new house progress. Oskar has only been to the new place once as the weather has been really cold and nasty for too long. As soon as the warm stuff sticks around, it will be time to order a summer vest for him. Something in a happy green!
