booty wooty: mr dragon

dear diary,
wooty woot! wooty woot! just when i thought life couldn't get any better now that my pack is back together, mom let me sniff this. yep, a package, for little old me, from my new and lovely buddy annabelle! can u believe she sent me a blue dragon??? i thought those things were only in fairy tales but here he is, live and in person and according to annabelle's mom, indestructible. i am not sure what that means, but maybe mr.dragon can tell me while we're havin a little chew together, if ya know what i'm talkin about.

and wait, that's not all! annabelle even sent me post-its that look like me, which i like totally needed cuz i ran out last week when me n duk duk used my post-its to make space suits for our play. these doxie head ones are even cooler cuz if mom lets me, i can stick a few on for our school's next production when i have to be cerberus in our play, clash of the toyfriends. why they picked me for that role and not duk duk i'll never know, cuz he is a much better actor than me.

anyways, the last picture on the bottom right is me posin with all my booty and i just want to say that i love it all! thanks, annabelle and annabelle's mom, for being so kind and generous! my mom says she's gonna work on your dud this week!

so that's about - wait, what's that, diary? there's writing inside that card i chewed on?

oooh - a letter from annabelle! um......could me n mr dragon have a little privacy please?

toodles!
b.

So, I have to ask ... is Mr. Dragon Dachshund-indestructible, or possibly German Shepherd-indestructible? We go through an awful lot of toyfriends around here, and Mr. Dragon is too beautiful to suffer their typical ignoble fate... He sure is purty though. And Baxter, I love that picture of you looking over your shoulder - and I couldn't read your letter, so don't worry! Your privacy remains.

hee - hi jiorji! o do come over and play with me sometime! u n mom could also play in her studio, making up a storm of goodies!! :)

hi bludog! annabelle says it is the only toy she has managed not to destroy. and the company replaces it if u do manage to do so. i can't wait to test it out. though he is cute, isn't he? maybe i will save his head for last and start working on the toes first.

Yay! We're glad Baxter got his presents and is having fun with them! :) The pictures are soooo cute!

Bludog, I wouldn't be surprised if these are German Shephard-proof as well as Dachshund-proof--Annabelle takes the word "indestructible" as a challenge! Normal stuffed toys are eviscerated within 10 minutes in our house, and we've literally gone through hundreds of toys in trial & error to find what she can keep around. Those "chew proof toys" made out of fire hose or seat belt material are no match for her, and neither are the toys made from recycled tires or the black Kongs normally meant for big dogs. (She can chew chunks of rubber off of those in under an hour!) She does have a few plush toys that I've sewn back together dozens of times because she loves them so much, but these toys are the first ones where I haven't had to break out the sewing needles.

The company is called Go Dog - their website is www.godogfun.com and they have testimonials there under the "about us" tab. They make several kinds of toys but the ones that hold up to Annabelle utilize their Chew Guard technology--special fabrics, double-reinforced seams, etc. She pulls on them, thrashes them against the ground, and chews and chews and CHEWS and she's only been able to get small holes in the outer layer of fabric--the chew guard layer remains unscathed. She can still desqueak them (sharp little teeth poke holes in the squeakers) but she can't tear them apart like everything else!

If you look at their products (go to Our Products, then Chew Guard), we can recommend the Fidgets (she managed to almost chew an ear off one, but didn't expose a seam or stuffing--I just cut the raggedy ear off) and the Dragons & Penguins. She also has a peppermint & a snowman from their holiday line that are holding up well. The Puppy/Jungle Tough Balls are NOT as good--their feet have little squeakers in them and Annabelle can make quick work of ripping the feet off. (However, she still plays with the footless toys so I don't feel as if I wasted my money!) I haven't tested their "send it back for a new toy" promise, but see several folks mentioning it in the testimonial page.

They link to www.republicofpaws.com to buy the toys, but when I can't find them in our local pet store I get them from www.whitedogbone.com - their pricing seems to be much better than that other site, plus they usually send free treat samples along with their shipments!

I promise I don't work for Go Dog--I've just spent tons of money on toyfriends, only to watch Annabelle send them to the Great Toy Box in the Sky. Now that I've found a brand that stands up to her chewing, I'm happy to share the tip with others!

Hi Bax! This is so not related to your post but that last pic reminds me of the one I had painted for my daddy for Christmas. Do you remember that one? Anyway, those are some coolio gifts you got there. My mom is jealous cuz she had a thing for posties (she tells me she is the post it be-aw-tch at work) and she doesn't have any like that.

Thanks Jenn for all the info. Max just destroyed another 2 toys tonight. Despite being upwards of 100 lbs and inspiring absolute terror in those who have dog phobias, Max likes his toys fluffy, squeaky and preferably pink. (No, I'm not kidding - given the choice, he will take the pink toy over any other color every time!) But he guts them all immediately, and then carries their sad, limp, no longer fluffy or squeaky carcasses around for weeks. We've had the rare toy or two that lasted (de-fluffed and squeaked, but still recognizable) for months, but most are done with inside of a couple days. In particular, he has a canvas "flat cat" that we've had for like 3 years! It's sad and limp, but every dog that comes over makes a beeline for the flat cat!

I hope they have a pink dragon...

hee - keep max away from the pink poodle grooming parlor! I saw the dragon in pink. Can't wait to see a pic of max and his new buddy! Your crew is completely entertaining!!

baxter has yet to divulge the contents of his secret message from annabelle. a budding teenager, he is!

I would really love to know the the dragon is indeed inconstructible as Daisy the Dachshund here likes to chew up her toys. My dad will sit there and sew them too because he says she loves them so much. We're actually in the process of getting some new toys for Daisy's birthday this month. Do let me know if you recommend it @ jewelrybySolange@aol.com
I have to say you take the cutest pictures of Baxter!

Finally figured out the best way to show the difference between toys, as far as Annabelle's concerned.

http://twitpic.com/1lef3c - This is a picture of her two favorite non-ChewGuard toys... Her beloved "nubby ball" which has been sewn together dozens of times and even had a squeaker transplant recently. Piggy is an amputee (half an arm is missing!) and his snout has been sewn shut repeatedly.

http://twitpic.com/1legbg - Here are two of her ChewGuard dragons. (See, Bludog--PINK!! *grin*) The tiny black spot on the pink dragon's side is a spot where Annabelle managed to chew through the top layer of fabric, but the black ChewGuard layer remains unscathed.

I'm curious to see if they stand up to the Baxter test, too! :)
