great expectations
There are some days when tiny chumley's mind reads like an open book. Days when it's all about his blue ballie and the rawhide he expects to find inside it. And if it is missing, if there is no beloved rawhide to expertly finagle out of his magical blue orb, he brings his empty ball to me, and sits, and stares, wide eyed and perky eared. Ever hopeful that his hypnotic gaze will cast a spell upon me. And somehow, it always manages to work.

The "Doxie Mind Meld" is a strange and powerful force...
I think I was temporarily mesmerized while looking at his picture...
The power flows thru the internet....give..another..rawhide...
hee hee, u all are getting verrry sleepy. it's time to come home, give me a rawhide, then snuggle! :) the great baxdini
"Feel . . . the . . . power . . . get . . . the . . . rawhide . . . . You will awake refreshed and remember nothing - tee, hee, hee!"
Milo does something similar with his bone that is hollow at the ends for treats. He will roll and flip it around, eventually to me, and sit and stare with that same look! Sooner or later I cave, and the ends get filled up with yummy carrots!
Dachshund Mind Control, that's what we call this behavior. It works like a charm. Even over the internet. I must go get a treat now and place it in a toy...
Looks like your mom is pretty well trained, Baxer!
Kisses and hugs

Odd. I don't even have a dog anymore and somehow there's now a stack of rawhide next to the laptop.
One of my favorite tricks of Minnie's was when I kept her food dish in sight of the living room. (It eventually got moved to a half-bath as my girl was *very* food focused.) She'd whine to get my attention. I'd look over and she'd be standing at her food dish, one paw on it. As soon as I looked her way, she'd flip the bowl. "See how empty it is?" Likewise, I'd sometimes find one of her stuffed animals in her (empty) water dish. "Look how empty it is. My elephant is not even damp."
aw, doxies definitely know how to get their point across, don't they? :)
