lap glue

Tuesday's plan for me was business as usual. Dentist appointment at 10:30, errands out, and unpacking and catching up with the life I left four days ago. But tiny chumley had other ideas, and made his wishes clearly known when came time to take him out of the warm and cozy cradle that was my lap. This little boy, who can make himself scarce at a moment's notice when it is time for a bath, who can skitter out of harm's way in a flash, can also, apparently, turn himself into an oozy, gluey, peacefully resistant, lap removal defying blob. Or as I like to now call it, endearing doxie feature #218. Also known as why-the-house-is-still-a-mess reason #3242.

It's okay to have a messy house... lap time is more important...

In our house we call that phenomenon "Dachshund velcro." Imagine 3 standards velcro-ed on your lap!!!

Molly is only velcro when I have food! Or we're outside and it's cold. Or there are big dogs bothering her. Or she's tired of walking. She's an independent little dickens otherwise...

When I let the Herd in bed with me, I end up with all four glued to me, hogging the entire bed - 2 @ 20 lbs., one @ 14 lbs., and Guinness, the sud mufin @6.4 pounds. I, however, am balanced on the last six inches of the edge of the bed, usually 3/4 uncovered!!

As for cleaning, I gave that up around children # 3 and 4, twin girls! LOL!! ;^)

First important things like a good lap time... and then the cleaning thing, right?

Hi. I wrote a post about your blog for BlogCatalog and wanted to use a pic of Baxter as the image for the post. Would that be OK? The image would be linked back to your site and credit would be given. Please let me know. I left a comment of the FB page so you can contact me there or shoot an email to jason@blogcatalog [dot] com if that's easier. Thanks. Love the blog BTW.

Ali can PUSH DOWN↓ with her whole body weight if she does not want off my lap. She becomes like a 200 lb weight. Locks those muscles and pushes down- saying I don't want to get up. So she pretty much always gets her way and has for 16 years now.

doxies most definitely have a way of manipulating matter unknown to the laws of physics, don't they? :)
