sunday matinee: the plan

A full day of raking yesterday, though little kielbasa spent most of his day rooting around in the leaves and digging at the freshly uncovered dirt. Up til now, I've never seen the kielbasa dig in the backyard, so I wonder what it is that finally brought out his inner backhoe. Digging for grubs? Maybe. Hungry for worms? Possibly. But I like to think he maybe had a bigger plan in his three year old furry head, just like any kid would if you gave him a shovel.

Ahhh Sundays. Perfect for kicking back and watching a doxie dig while being serenaded by a german pop-rock acapella group, right?

hmm ...yup. He's looking for a treasure. Look at him digging. And then stopping to look around. I think he's thinking "hmm well the diagram said around here..nope...ok maybe a few inches south...ok i can't take the diagram out NOW cos mom is filming and it's a SECRET!"

Baxter i hope you find your treasure. :D

Ginger is already trying out her badger seeking skills on the lawn- last year she went down over 6 inches in her first hole. Guess the badgers got away from B!

I'm not a digger either Baxter. I don't like all that dirt under my toenails. My momma even tried to make me dig once by putting one of my favorite treats under some dirt. I showed her....I just left it there! Sometimes she wonders if my sniffer works properly. Love seeing you in action handsome boy.

Baxter, you are an inspiration to us all. Flash and I have been trying to get into the whole digging scene for a while. Mom is the one holding us back though. She says the community would prefer if we left the park "hole free." Whatever! So far our goals are not as lofty as yours, but you are a real motivator and we are going to get back out there and do some DIGGING!!!! Woohoo!!!

hee - I am so hoping I can get him to do it on command. Planting annuals would go by so much more quickly!!
