what is this big wet hole?
- baxter, 3.4 years old, on his first encounter with a swimming pool.
Tiny chumley chose to stay nice and dry while we visited the backyard of a friend Saturday, investigating the swimming pool from all angles before deciding the surrounding tall grasses and wooded grounds were way more interesting. No thanks, I don't feel like swimming today, he decided, but I'll gladly hunt your squirrels!

B, it looks like you grew another 6 inches! And around July or August, that big wet hole will feel gooooood, especially after a super-long tummy tan.
Rhett didn't really like our pool. Last year I bought him a life jacket (DH laughed at me) but it did give me confidence when we'd put him in to cool off. He'd rather run around the pool barking. The pool is gone now. Rhett is happier since now the entire back-yard is his to roam in!
We don't blame you Baxter. Stay away from those big water holes, they're scary....unless it's a 100 degrees out and you want to cool off, but even then just a puddle or a little creek is fine to walk through.
hee - I am not sure if Baxter would ever be tempted to go into the pool, unless we chucked a squirrel in there. Chumley likes his heat best in radiant form, while also enjoying the comfort of air conditioned cool! :)
Dottie and Flash also hold water under much suspicion. Alven is the only one that actually enjoys water and I'm guessing would have no problem checking out a pool. The other two would rather have as little to do with liquids as possible unless it's in their bowl.
Minnie didn't have access to a pool, but she knew exactly where her cool-off spots were at Shelley Lake and woe be to you if you tried to pass one. Scrappy -- the doxie of my youth -- had no problem with water and even jumped out of the boat when my dad and I were fishing one time.
