out on a whim

Some days, it's all about new frontiers. Exploring new things with our little boy in tow, to experience life in ways we have yet to imagine and to build on that special bond between doggie and human. That pretty much sums up life with the little kielbasa yesterday, who finally got a chance to investigate the playground we always pass but never stop by on our evening walkies.

The playground, you see, is normally a center of kiddie hubbub in the evenings, and where there are kids, there are usually bored big dogs tethered about, waiting for their kiddies to tire out. And bored big dogs tend to take special interest in a doxie that from far away might pass for an oversized bunny. And gettin the stink eye from big dogs, bored or otherwise, is hardly on the top 10 list of Baxter's things he loves to do. And so we do our best most days to ignore the playground's existence as we walk by it.

But yesterday morning, the playground was blissfully empty, and we took the opportunity to let tiny chumley sniff about. Baxter considered for a few moments the slide that he didn't end up sliding down, then promptly decided that the stands of pampas grass nearby would be much more fun to investigate. They might be hiding a bunny, after all.

I guess it goes to show that at least for this little kielbasa, sometimes the best new frontier is the same frontier.

We would not have gone down the slide either! The grass looks nice, though!

I'll bet that the slide was too hot for his tender tush. No fun there!

We don't get near any playgrounds either Baxter - it's those signs: NO DOGS ALLOWED!
You made a good decision to scope out the grass.
