knick knack paddy whack

It has been eons since the little kielbasa has been out for a bit of socialization , and it showed the moment we walked into the pet store yesterday.

brip! skitter. browf! sniff. bow wow wow 2 u, daycare doggies behind the glass! yikes - what was that noise?? i'm keepin my tail tucked. training, what training? that was years ago. let's get outta here now please! i'll lead the way, mom, and i will cover us with my barking!

The little kielbasa's protests resonated as we walked throughout the store, the echoes making it seem like there were a growing battalion of noisy wiener dogs.

Sigh. There was no way I was going to let tiny chumley leave the store in such a state, yet the lunchtime kibble I brought wasn't enough of a lure to get Baxter settled and focused.

And then we came upon the aisle of plenty.

ooooooo. brip. well if u - sniff sniff - okay, hang on a sec. bwoof! okay, i'll take this one. and i can totally carry it myself, see mom?.

We sauntered pass the little white fluffy dog with nary a peep. Stood silently by the fish tanks while we waited for the Jack Russell Terrier and his mom to check out. Ignored the cooing crowd who wanted to admire Baxter's bone stogie carrying ways.

sorry. no time for barking. on a mission now, thanks. sniff ya later.

And this small dog went quietly home. :)

LOVE IT!
i've been meaning to get Ramsay a bone, but am always afraid i'll get something that splinters and hurts him. even with the big bones, i'm always worried that the middle parts might fragment. i'll have to see if i can get something similar to what Baxter picked out!

Hahaha. Adorable! My pups love those bones too. It's amazing what they'll do for a chance to get their mouths around those bones. Good for you Baxter!

hi ramsay! i have never had this type of bone before all to myself so mom says she still worries that this bone might splinter or sumptin so a) i don't get it for very long and b) she stays nearby when i get it and c) she puts it up and away so i don't secretly munch on it. i suppose that's okay cuz at least i know nobody else is gonna eat it. mine is sweet potato flavored!

oooh flash alven n dottie, we totally need a bone party!! :)

miss kerri, u mean u can snitch stuff off those shelves??? how come nobody tells me these things??? there were so many more things i would have taken!!

thank u max! sorry 2 tell u but one of the adoption kitties spooked me and i bwup'd at it. kitties give the best scary stink eye!

thank u Anonymous!

So glad to see wings again! Sounds like Baxter was having a Jeeves sort of day. Bring on Spring and long walks!

B, I think the Petsmart on the northeast side of town kept loose pig ears in bins along the bottom of the shelf. I had to watch Minnie like a hawk.

Wow!
You got a huge bone, Baxter!
I understand you did not have time to talk!

Now is he'd only had his "Wings" harness on and oh, maybe a halo to go with . . . ;^)

docsdox - try using short rib bones that have been cooked in the crock pot. They don't splinter, and my four braunschweigers love to gnaw on them! (And you will of course clean them of their falling-off-the-bone meat as your patriotic duty, eh?)

mmmmm, short ribs...
