suspicious minds

Like flies to honey, tiny chumley appeared out of nowhere when I brought in the floor samples from the garage that I borrowed yesterday to help decide what to do in our family room.

hey, what's all this?, the little kielbasa nosily asked, pushing his way to a front row seat on the show that was my afternoon plans.

Flooring samples, I replied on the same subaural wavelength that we always use. So we can replace the carpeting in here.  You know, the one that you peed on the week you first came home, and the one that your brothers before you peed on just the same, only way more frequently because they were markers and you are not. Which is why we can do this now.

oic. i do prefer crayons to magic markers.  so, if we get a new floor in the family room, does this mean me n duk duk won't be able to play with our matchbox cars in here anymore?

No baby dog, you and duk duk can still play with your cars in here.

but will this new floor be sturdy enough so that me n duk duk can play dance dance revolution whenever we want?
Yes baby dog, you and duk duk can play ddr whenever you are done with your chores and homework.

and can i still eat my rawhide in here?

Yes baby dog. You can eat your rawhide in here.

will i get to keep my bed in here?

Yes baby dog.  We will keep your bed in here and maybe even bring in a kitty perch so you can look out at the other neighbor's yard.  So you can keep an eye on little Misses Julia and Sarah when they are on the swingset.

yippee! i do not see why we did not do this sooner.  i think i like the one by my hindpaws best.  can i have a snackie now?

Not yet babydog.  You might be done choosing what flooring you want but  SOMEBODY has been in my way all this time and it would be nice to look at these samples without a sausagey shadow on them.  But come, sit in my lap and you can keep me company while I think about this more.  And hey, did I tell you this means we might get a big persian rug to go over it?

ooo, wooty.

hee hee, double wooty! :)

This reminds me of trying to wrap presents. No dachshund can resist stepping on the paper and asking what is going on.

How exciting, lovely new floors! Once the pooch was safely snuggled on your lap, hope you were finally able to make a decision... ;)

I love that photo! Baxter looks so curious... as he obviously was when you were trying to pick out flooring. :)

Maybe think about little paws running on hardwood floors? We have 2 Jack Russells and a big Golden/Chow mix. We had to put rubber-backed runners on the hardwoods so the doggies can get traction and stop sliding off into walls as they rush to chase squirrels. The big dog is especially clumsy as he sometimes just slips and falls, but that could just be getting old.

Anyway, Baxter, you might want tell Mom that you don't wear tennis shoes for traction on slick floors. Or then again, that may be a good project and product for Mom to make!

hee hee, miss mary anne, i cannot wait either! :)

oh yes, miss design_girl, i like to help with that too! though i do not understand why mom sometimes wraps presents on the table. it's not like i can help her from up there...

well, miss simply smitten, mom was hoping to decide today but the sun is nowhere to be found. what up wit dat?? yesterday it was warm n sunny and today it is windy (again) and cloudy and getting colder.

hee hee, u got it right miss taylor lynn! mom says anything new at my level, i always notice. probably cuz mostly i like to see how it might pertain to me. and if i can eat it. like i tried 2 do with one of the boards. just a tiny nibble. to see. and no, it was not edible. boo hoo.

well mr bob that is funny cuz i would not put it past my mom to make me sneakers, but thankfully i do not think i will need them. cuz mom is going to get us an area rug to cover most of the floor u walk on and u know what that means - i can run on them! but hopefully the right rug will come in time. mom says her favorite ebay guy is not selling rugs at the moment which is a shame cuz she said he sold the best kind of rugs for us - imperfectly perfect, and therefore perfectly priced! if we do not find one by the time the floor is ready we will use a different area rug or sumptin. :)

hope u all r having a wonderful tuesday!! :)b

oh god. I'm having flashbacks to when my husband and I bought our house 2 years ago.
we decided to rip up ALL the carpeting and use the hardwood floors underneath. little did we know they needed to be refinished.
So we decided to refinish them ourselves. So after a month of eating/sleeping/living in one tiny room with a mattress on the floor and a dachshund who made it even more uncomfortable...we can finally enjoy them! (never again!) haha.it certainly was an adventure though.

whoowee, miss kyley and ammo, what gumption you have! i can tell your floors turned out beautiful so it was totally worth it, wasn't it? and it makes for some story. ours will not be so storysome - mom hopes. we are getting prefinished and a guy i plan at barking at mightily is going to install it. win win all around i say. :)

hee hee - miss marene and ali i do declare u r right and miss bludog is too! u can call me the next tyra barks! :)

it seems big, but i have a feeling miss lorenza that your mom has us beat in all the wonderful things that she does to your home! :)

wow miss jordan, that is one big accomplishment. mom says there would be so much fabric n crafty stuff to move around that it would really be a production to paint all the walls in our house! we r redoing, but really mostly like the things that really need doing like the family room flooring and regular maintenance stuff like replacing rotted sideboard and getting the outside painted and junk. stuff that i am sure i can help with, even if it's serenading the workers (or mom n dad) with barking! :)
