pickup artist :)

I was working with the sewing machine the day it first happened years ago.  A random coincidence that the little kielbasa happened to be playing nearby when a spool of thread rolled off my table and dropped onto the floor.

Crikey, I thought when I saw where it had landed.  I mentally started to think through the obstacle course I would need to manage in order to fetch the spool.    How am I ever gonna -

My thoughts were cut off by a little red moseying blur, who had apparently seen the fall and wanted to investigate this new found gift from the gods above.

Oooh, maybe...."Hey," I said to my little red curious friend as I pointed to the spool, "fetch it."

Tiny chumley sat by the spool while his noggin wheels briefly processed the situation.  u want me to what? , his eyes seemed to be asking.

"You can do it! Fetch it here! You know, fetch!" And don't try to chew on it, I secretly thought to myself.

He blinked, then leaned his head over and opened his mouth gently over the spool.  His big brown eyes glanced back at me.  this thing, right?

"Come on baby u can do it, come, fetch it here!"

Baxter looked at me while I looked back. And then it clicked. oh okay! Baxter skip stepped toward me with the spool in his mouth, and plopped it proudly in palm of my outstretched hand.  And he has been my tiny little pick up helper ever since.

hee hee, mom that's right! i might not be able to get stuff off a high shelf for u like dad can, but anytime u drop something, just whistle and i'll be there to help u out - no place too low or dark or dusty!! :)
