"whee! whee! whee!" all the way home...
I like how focused Baxter looks to the task at hand in this picture. And yes, the rusty car came home with us after all... Now if only Baxter's legs were long enough to pedal himself, he could chase those backyard bunnies in style...

My brothers got that exact car for Christmas 1966. It was turquoise all over - just as you can see traces of the color around the "headlights" and front grill of the car. Since they were twins, they got that one and a red firetruck with ladders along the sides. I'll be my mother paid under $10 for each one brand new. How much did you pay for this one at the flea market?
I don't know why they don't make pedal powered cars like this for kids anymore. Now everything has to be battery powered so the kids don't exert themselves at all.
I thought of Baxter last night when Lulu tried to chase a bunny. If she hadn't been on a leash she probably would have gotten it toon!
hiya Bludog & Elizabeth! Baxter wishes he were with Lulu cause no bunnies sighted tonight on his walk.
Oh cool on the pedal car! I wish I saw it when it was new, just to see the difference. I probably paid too much for the car considering its condition but got it for $35, down from the $40 he was asking. I like rust (and am up on my tetanus shots!) I am hoping to find a nice rusty ol bike license plate for the back. I wonder what the chances are of finding one for cheap.
Hey I am wondering if anybody reads these comments after they post their question to see if I answered. If you do, can you please post back just so I know?
Baxter, I'm so glad you got to keep the car! Maybe you can take it to antiques roadshow and find out it is worth loads of $$. I sometimes read the comments again if I know that dog replies on their blog most of the time. Unfortunately, I am usually a day or two behind on commenting and don't always know if my comments are seen. Most of the time others don't reply on the blog but might leave a comment on my blog regarding the comment I left them....does that make any sense at all?
Bax, you look extra cute in that picture!
Snuggles,
Twix
So, now that I know you reply to my comments (I actually figured it out yesterday) I went back and reread your posts/comments. I just started blogging in April. Are you a member of Dogs with blogs? I think that is one of the reasons I have a lot of followers. You can get to them from the logo on my sidebar. Also, commenting on others blogs will make them come visit you. Other than that, I'm not sure where all these followers came from. Baxter is so handsome you will probably get lots of followers too.
Snuggles,
Twix
Hi, Baxter!
I was asking if you had the chance to ride it... and you got it! Pawesome!
Driving requires concentration, right?
Kisses and hugs
Lorenza

All best,
Nolen & Polly doxie
When I am down at my dad's in September, I will see I can find one of the pictures from that long lost Christmas and scan it in so that you can see the car new.
And yes, we always check back to see if you've answered!
just as soon as i mentioned the license plate thing I checked ebay. holding out for now, there may well be that perfect one that actually says Baxter!
I can't wait to see if you have a pic of that car, all spankin new!
Bear with me if additional comments are posted to stuff that is within the two week current window cause I don't always notice, but I thought it would be kinda rude to force folks to wait for me to "approve" their comment. oooh the UPS guy just came! gotta run! :)
You can have them emailed to you. That is what I do then if someone comments on an old post I know!
Thanks, Twix, I will look into it. Boy whaddya know there are baxter license plates today on ebay!
