Baxter Balboa, photographed here just minutes after losing the chase with Apollo D. Bunny, has just announced that he will take time off from the backyard to reassess his hunting strategies and spend more time with his girlfriend, Adrian. "I lost fair and square, but that doesn't mean I will lose again. I can do this one, two, three, four, what maybe six more times? Yeah, I'm Baxter Balboa and I will hunt again. You can count on it."
Critics of Balboa note that his weakness for dinosaur bones may put the chaser at a disadvantage the next time Balboa enters the yard. "I pity da fool that thinks he's gonna win anything after eatin one of those things," said Mr. B, the gilded mohawked rabbit also known as Thumper Bang. "I pity da fool if he thinks he's gonna win chasing me." Balboa could not be reached for further comment and was last seen with his manager Duk Duk, pedaling away in a rusty aqua convertible.
editor's note: no actual bunnies or dachshunds were physically hurt for this story. certain egos, however, may have been a bit bruised upon this story's publication.

Oskar has dispatched several small bunnies, but the adult rabbits always get away, even if they have to force themselves through the very small openings of wire rodent fence that is attached to the bottom of our "wrought" aluminum fencing. The adult bunny chases remind me of an Elmer Fudd cartoon (Oskar as Elmer here) with our dog bounding off in the wrong direction having a "Where'd he go" expression, as large bunny races past and out the fence. Strategy is not our dog's strong suit!
As a side note, we have a daughter named Adrienne. She gets the "Yo" stuff all the time.
that's EXACTLY how it goes for Baxter! I've stuffed old dish plates in some of the known gaps in our fene but they always seem to find or make another. Don't know if you had a chance to read this post but it was a total bugs bunny moment.
Tell Adrienne "yo!" from Baxter!! :)
Yes, that was a great post! Besides the yipping noise, Oskar employs a high pitch scream as he crashes through foliage and shrubs...I call that his "stealth" mode. One time the rabbit literally ran across the tops of my feet and sat slightly behind me as I hoarsely whispered, "Oskar, over HERE!", while my little Napoleon looked me in the eye and bounded off in another direction! Something got lost in the translation...
I sure wish we had some stylin' wheels for our pup! We are also jealous of the great harnesses and hats that Baxter wears. Perhaps a handsome driving coat, white scarf and fedora are in Baxter's future?!
The Baxter video is great, if anyone hasn't seen it....
Isn't that actually a "bad hare day" he's having?
My new GSD caught a rat yesterday. The whole thing was over in about 2 seconds, and she was ready to keep walking (dog, not rat). "Keep moving people. Nothing to see here."
Baxter!
I know you will get him next time... I know it!
Kisses and hugs

oh I like that - bad hare day!
i've been half thinkin of what to make baxter for his driving outfit. but i can't be too tempted just yet cause I found a super stuffed dachshund pattern I want to test out once I make some more bags for an upcoming show. there is slight order to all the madness after all.
have a great weekend everybody!!
OH! You catch da rabbit and come pick me up and we can have a dinner date! I can't wait to go for a ride in your new wheels!
Snuggles,
Twix
