spice world

The little kielbasa's nose was all a twitter today as he helped me unpack my fabrics and start the process of putting together kits to make purses in the coming weeks.

mmmm, i smell spices in the air. must be the fabric mom bought in amish country!

Hey! What about fabrics and trims for DDDs? We think Otto is now full grown - you should expect measurements and an order soon!!!

P.S. I do love your purses!!

We love smelling our mom's stuff when she gets back from trips too. It's like being there with her. So much fun.

Max, u TOTALLY have to go to Amish country and scope out the fabric outlets. If you can handle buying anywhere from 2-8 yds of a particular fabric, u can often get wonderful stuff for like $2-$4/yd on the flatfold table. We only got to go to one store and I ended up focusing on heavier weight fabrics for purses, but I did get a couple bolts and some flatfolds of quilting fabric - great for purse linings, and that dang quilt I need to make one day!

Hi Flash Alven & Dottie! Yes, Baxter is totally the same way, and really really expects the contents of every package to be his.

Hi Sio! Can u believe I found a few fabrics months ago that I thought would be good for Otto?? A pendleton for winter, and if I remember a couple of options for spring/summer. The trims I got this time were rather girly unless Otto wanted to go a little renaissance (!), but I do love the things I had squirreled away for him so they'll be here when you're ready! :)

Are you talking about Lancaster, pa? (practically my back yard).
If that's what you mean...
What fabric shops? I routinely go to the outlets down that way, but wasn't aware of any fabric shops - although admittedly I haven't explored everything.

ooh what outlets do u know about? Pa seems to have ton of grocery outlets and I was so excited - I got bottles of orville redenbacher popcorn for like $2 each, when the walmart here wants $4 and the grocery stores want $6. I wanna say the fabric places were near lancaster but I really am not good with knowing where I am when someone else is navigating. It's all hit and miss though. Have you been to Fabricmart fabrics? Mostly fashion but their storefront has regular sales where everything is like really cheap (I wanna say like $1/yd, but I haven't paid much attention since I rarely get up that way during their sales).
