dapper doxie duds: i like watermelon

dear diary, 
yippee! yesterday i got to model the dud mom finished for my new friend peyton and i am really excited bcuz it has a watermelon on it because peyton likes watermelon and hey i wonder if we still have any watermelon...nope..o well. so anyhoo my new friend peyton is a smooth black and tan whose mom said he would not be afraid to mix plaid and stripes and well certainly the same must be true about mixing dots and watermelons and bring bold happy colors, right?  and although he is not nearly as big as me, he is still big enough that i can model it. which was such a relief bcuz i was really hoping to earn my snackies yesterday,and well, i did!

so peyton, if u r reading my diary, i just wanted to say i hope u really like your new festive dud and if u get any watermelon please do tell me all about it because boo hoo we do not have any here.  o, and i hope u r having a very wonderful weekend!!

dapper doxie duds: otto n linus

dear diary,
yippee! it seems like forever since i have talked to you about modeling duds and lucky for me and my tummy, that streak is now broken.  cuz this is me, modeling the duds that my mom made for ike's brothers otto and linus!  and i will tell you all about them.

this is otto's summer dud, made from a nice green and blue cotton batik and trimmed in solid green twill. it is super cool because not only did mom use vintage woven label trim, but she also put a squirrel charm on there that u cannot see very well unless u enlarge the image, but trust me, it is very cool and personally i would like one on one of my duds so mom if u ever read my diary, i forgive u so long as u remember this.













this is otto's winter dud and it is made from a super nice pendleton wool houndstoothy plaid.  and a swell silk necktie that my mom quilted to add texture. and just like his brother ike's winter dud, my mom made an etched and stamped copper tag with otto's name on it.  very dapper, right? :)

now every dog needs an all season dud and dontchoo think that a dud pieced together from double mercerized golf shirting materials would fit the bill, especially when there is a snackie pocket involved because the material is so stretchy  that if u are lucky enough to have more than one snackie to put in your pocket, you can? mom, if u are still reading my diary, i really would like one of these too please.













and last but not least, here is linus's happy trains n boats pieced necktie dud!  and it would probably be helpful to know that linus is actually technically ike and otto's uncle, because linus once belonged to ike n otto's mom's dad. but sadly, ike n otto's mom's dad passed away, and linus now lives with ike and otto.  so to help linus remember his dad now that he is gone, my mom made linus's duds out of some of his dad's neckties.  that way when he goes walkies, his dad will always be close by, hugging him and keeping him safe.



anyhoo diary, those are the duds for otto n linus and i hope they like them a lot - i know i did, and i could not even focus on them for very long on account of the visitors we had yesterday who were working on the house so as u can imagine it was quite a zoo around here and if you are still reading my diary, i do not believe you mom when you say it is of my own doing because u know i am barking to protect our house and those guys were so taking things away - even if they were replacing it with other things.  and they did not give me snackies.    which every grown dog knows is totally a barkable offense.

dapper doxie duds: rocky & penny's mad men sunday picnic in the park

Did you ever wonder what dachshunds wore for duds back in the Mad Men days when even casual wear seemed, well, dressy?  Did boy doxies walk in the park dressed like their dads in a bowling shirt  or a camp shirt made of comfy double mercerized cotton with a contrast textured woven panel inset?  Did little girl doxies go to their picnics dressed like Betty Draper wearing duds that had a seamed and fitted bodice and removable flare skirt,  done up in a lovely shell pink cotton and embellished with layers of pretty picot edge and floral jacquard ribbons, and made even happier with a row of cheery pearlescent flower buttons along the spine? 

Sadly, I suppose the answer is no.  But lucky for Baxter's modern day friends Rocky and Penny, they won't have to wonder at all what it's like to go for a picnic in the park dressed as little men and ladies want to be dressed.  Happy Friday friends!! :)

poopship troopers

dear diary,
yippee!! me n duk duk's chipscout badges finally arrived yesterday and so mom put mine on my uniform and looky! yep, my official chipscout outfit is now complete!! and once i am out of the pokey, everybuddy will know that i am part of troop number 238, special attack force stealth commando unicorn squadron.  and that i earned a level 1 in swimming  and that i earned my mountain camping badge and that i earned the most coveted badge of all, the golden poopie boulder badge - in recognition of outstanding effort and achievement in the field of, yeah u guessed it, pooping!  and as a matter of fact, the only thing missing from this picture besides my neckerchief and neckerchief slide is the emergency snackie snack that every chipscout carries in their emergency snackie snack pocket.  And that is only because since my meals have been cut back because I cannot go walkies and I am in the pokey, well u know my tummy delared an emergency. so let's just say there was a emergency snack attack earlier if u know what i mean.

anyhoo, mom says i am only allowed to wear my uniform for a few minutes so i really must go now bcuz duk duk n lil pink puppy n chocobot are all due home from school any minute now as i write this and i want 2 make sure they know when they come up the driveway that they will be walking into the home of an official first class junior grade unicorn commando attack force chipscout. hee hee, i hope u r having as wonderful a day as i am!

dapper doxie duds: take me out to the ball game

dear diary,
yesterday i finished modeling the last of the duds mom made while i was away, and i must say i sure hope mom will be making more duds soon bcuz me and my tummy will not otherwise know how to make up for the loss in the snackie bonuses we have been receiving all week. but even if that doesn't happen soon, at least we went out with a double header bcuz this pair of super cool red sox baseball duds were made for my wonderful friends  bogey and remy. i certainly hope they have as much fun wearing them as i did modeling them, because as you can see they are quite versatile and in fact bogey n remy could even make a movie with them and probably win an oscar because as you can see the duds and how u wear them can really help a pup elicit very nuanced emotion.

well diary, speaking of movies, i best get going bcuz me n duk duk are going start production on our top secret feature film project for school. i cannot tell you much about it but if u know of where we can buy a bowl big enough to make 5000 gallons of jello, u know where to find me.

dapper doxie duds: tucker's LSU Sporty Dud

hee hee, okay, one more time mister dragon, but this time, kick AND foofie!

- baxter, 5.25 years old, on teaching the finer points of foofie football to his friend mister dragon.

Well hello, it's me, Baxter, your roving rover reporter reporting to you today on another dud my mom made while me and duk duk were away on spring break camping on foofie mountain.  Today, it's all about football.  Or, LSU football that is. Which, I really don't know how to play even though I had a chance to learn and earn a badge for it back on foofie mountain but did not because I was busy making - er, hunting - poopie snakes, but as u can probably tell from the picture above, it really doesn't matter.  Cuz mostly I think u kick and tackle and run and well, all the stuff we do in foofie football except for the foofie part. So I hope my friend Tucker will still feel right at home wearing his new dud because from what I hear, his little sister Tilly is all about tackling him, just like it's done in either game.  Hee hee, come to think of it, maybe she needs a football dud, too.

Anyhoo, even though my tummy and I had a fine time modeling Tucker's LSU football dud, I am so glad to give you an opportunity to see Tucker modeling his own dud too. Doesn't he look swell?  I hope he has plenty of swell adventures in it.

dapper doxie duds: penny princess's purple posey dud

Well hello, it's me, Baxter, your roving reporter reporting to you today from my home. Now, it's wet and rainy here but I like to think it's because I just helped my mom send a happy package of sunshine to my friend Penny Princess.  You see, while I was away, apparently mom got a lot done in the crafty department and so today I wanted to show u the dud she made especially for Penny Princess.  And yeah, you guessed it, I was a little too big to be modeling her dud.  So maybe today we both can use our imaginations to think about how the dud might look on Penny, who is a really cool piebald who looks like - well why don't you see for yourself?










Yep this is my friend Penny but her mom calls her Princess a lot and so I guess I like to think of her as Penny Princess.  And just like me she is a rescue, only not like me she has a brother which sometimes I think would be cool til my tummy chimes in and reminds me I would have to share my snackies and really, I do not get enough snackies as it is.

But anyhow, are you ready to see Penny Princess's new purple posey dud and imagine how she looks in it, because here it is!

Yep, Penny's purple posey dud was made with a periwinkle and purple and magenta cotton batik and embellished with an iridescent and mixed glass beaded handmade flower, topped off with a very sweet sterling silver and amethyst dangle.  I hope she likes it! And maybe if my tummy is lucky tomorrow I will report to you about a dud that actually fits me.  But for now, this is Baxter your roving rover reporter wishing you the wonderfullest of Wednesdays! :)

dapper doxie duds: puppsburgh steelers

okay mom, i am ready to model oskar's new steelers dud....wait? what?  i might actually be able to fit this one?  oh yippee! give me a second to put it on right, okay?

ta da!  o me so cannot wait for oskar to get his new dud and maybe when he gets it he will show me how to play football or at least show me how to make steel bcuz me n duk duk can really use a lot of it for the skyscraper we plan 2 make this spring after we are done with the trebuchet :)

dapper doxie duds: penny for your thoughts

Well hello, it's me, Baxter, your roving rover reporter, reporting to you today from the ninth annual hat lady convention and garden party.   Hee hee, okay well no not really, even though I am wearing what looks to be a really swell hat, aren't I?

I am here to report to you today on something even cooler - the dud my mom made for my new friend Penny!  And besides me not really being able to fit Penny's new dud, there is a really good reason why Penny's new dud is on my head because you see, Penny and her mom n dad are behind the super fun site, stuffonmywiener.com!  So naturally I needed to model penny's dud on my wiener noggin, right?

Anyhoo, this is Penny.  She is lovely, isn't she? 

And here is a closer peek at her new dud!  My mom says it is made from a deep raspberry pink diamond weave mercerized cotton interlock bound in indigo denim and the flower is made from hand dyed silk satin mixed with an imported quilting cotton print and mixed iridescent glass beads and fresh water pearls. I say, I hope Penny will love it!

dapper doxie dud: the midnight sky

Hey everybuddy it's me, Baxter, your roving rover reporter reporting to you today about the goodies my mom finished yesterday for my friend Pinto. As u can see, Pinto is a very cool piebald and yeah u guessed it, he is actually close to my size, which is why I can actually model the dud my mom made for him.  I like to call this one the midnight sky, because the dyed corduroy my mom made and used reminds me of yeah u guessed it again, the midnight sky.  Only on this night the moon is full which is why you see glints of swirly lights and darks on the fabric and asymmetrical silk necktie embellishment  and of course, the vintage watch movement full moon!

Hee hee, oh yeah, did I also mention Pinto ordered up an Elmer Fudd Flapjack too? And yeah I can fit that too so here I am wearing it!  I am so very excited for Pinto because me n duk duk are going to take the pedal car today and drop it off at the post office and then he will have it in no time. 

Next up on the crafty list? My mom says the fabulous Penny's dud, and then after that she will be working on a ton of fit models so if u have been waiting patiently, thank u and know that I will be helping mom with everything these next couple to three weeks so stay tuned!

dapper doxie duds: feelin stitchy!

dear diary,
well it turns out u cannot get netflix via the telegraph like we were hopin, so the ride out west is long and slow and even though it is foofie filled, we can hardly wait to get off this train and walk on the dry sandy soil of my cousin jasper's ranch.  and hopefully find a real sandworm so we can ride it.

but anyhoo, as i have nothing really 2 report today bcuz we are still on the train, i thought i would show u the wonderful duds i helped my mom make for my friend stitch, a long haired chocolatey dapple who is not only getting a happy black and turquoise aqua sushi dud, but also these super duper ones!  and yeah as u might guess, stitch is a lot smaller than i am otherwise i would have modeled them all for u.

hee hee, yeah that's right, stitch was named after stitch, so of course he needed a stitch dud, right?

and even though we just celebrated the new year's arrival, can u believe there will be another new year coming up?  this time it will be the year of the dragon and wouldn'tchoo know that mom found a lovely embroidered silk robe back in chicago thinking the right pup would come along and need this turned into a harness and wouldn'tchoo that that right pup was stitch?  















and yep, this was the one that started it all.  bcuz when stitch's mom first contacted my mom she decided she wanted a very nice quilty dud for her boy and well, u know what they say about potato chips?  my dud drawer and now stitch's dud drawer is a testament to the fact thatchoo can't have just one.

mehopes u likey them very much stitch and i cannot wait to see u wearing them!!!

dapper doxie duds: quintin & jewel's deutscher duo

Hey everybuddy, it's me, Baxter, your roving rover reporter, reporting to you today about the happy duds my mom just finished for my friends Quintin and Jewel.  My friend Quintin is the doxie on the right and his family are fans of the German National football team (that's Die deutsche Fußballnationalmannschaft in case u were wondering).  So Quintin's mom and my mom thought that Quintin could use a little something sporty and since the team's regular white uniform wasn't very practical for a doxie dud,  mom decided to to use one of Michael Ballack's curvy pieced red jerseys for inspiration and even included a little reflective piping so Quintin can stand out at a night game. Super cool, right? I would have modeled it for u but mom says there is a reason she calls me her little kielbasa and not her little vienna sausage.  I say...yeah, it didn't fit me even when I held my breath.  But here it is!

  And looky! I can fit Quintin's sister Jewel's dud! And me so likey cuz it has squirrels and deer on them and it has piping that mom made expecially for it and it has buttons and it is made from a nice red cotton pique and it reminds me of a very happy german fairy tale just like the one I read with lil pink puppy the other night. U know, the one with the deer n squirrels in it and the forest with the magic kibble tree that grants three wishes?  

Anyhoo, mehopes that Quintin and Jewel will enjoy their new duds very much and me also hopes that u enjoyed seeing them as much as I enjoyed reporting about them. This is Baxter your roving rover reporter wishing u a very happy Thursday! :)

dear diary,
well diary, as i mentioned on facebook, halloween was a bust bcuz it rained and did not stop til 6:50 in the evening and mom said we could only be out til 7:00 and that would only give us like, 10 minutes to trick or treat, and bcuz it was cold out mom decided we should not go at all even though we found baggies for our heads n everything. and then to add insult 2 injury i tried 2 bring my costume 2 school 2day but as i did not want 2 get it wet i put it in my backpack which meant of course i had to goto school nakey nakey which teacher did not appreciate at all and that got me an early ride home where i thought i was gonna be bummed n bored all day.














but then no sooner did i get home than mom gave me this super cool present from stitch (do not tell mom but i am actually looking forward 2 my next bath so i can use it!) and i got to help her make stitch's new yummy yummy sushi duds !

 
and mom said since we still had halloween candy left that dad did not pass out,  that me n duk duk could have it and even though it is not the candy we like it tastes much better in monkey chow milkshakes and in fact it makes our breath stink too so double bonus! and when i texted chocobot he said he thinks there might be a way to turn it into cotton candy and if so triple bonus cuz then we can ask mom to stuff the turkey with it for thanksgiving the way chocobot says his grandma does it at her house!  so all in all even though me n duk duk did not get to go trick or treating, do not feel sorry for us diary bcuz in the end it all worked out, even if we cannot trade candy for poopie snakes with the kids at school.

well diary i must go now and take the pedal car to pick up chocobot and lil pink puppy from princess fairy camp so i will talk to 2 later! :)

dapper doxie duds: kirby hepburn sedgwick

dear diary,
yippee! didjoo ever have one of those days where u wake up and wonder if u r ever going to get a chance to wear your wig again because teacher told u not to bring it to school anymore even though u were very good and did everything she said and even cleaned her erasers for her? well lucky for me, mom finished kirby's dud yesterday and since her mom described kirby as one part edie sedgwick and one part audrey hepburn, well u know what i just had to do when it came time to model  kirby's hepburn-sedgwick inspired dud.  although boo hoo mom would not let me borrow a sharpie like i wanted to so i could have duk duk draw a beauty mark on me.

anyhoo here is a peekypoo at kirby's dud.  it has cross woven two toned silk pleated trim and freshwater pearls n everything! mehopes kirby likes it!!

well i must go and draw the costume i want mom to make me for halloween so i must say bye bye for now and talk to u tomorrow! :)

dapper doxie duds: olive the buzzy bee

Hooray, today a peekypoo at a cheery little dud I just finished for sweet mini Olive, who regularly checks in on the bees that her mom keeps.  So what's more fitting than a bee inspired dud? One that's made from dyed cashmere and plaid woolen and bound in black sateen and embellished with measuring tape ribbon and a little bee charm.  And a felted ball antennae cap for the days when she's feeling extra buzzy.

 whooo, mom, antennae! bzzzzz. bzzzz. when i am done helping u model olive's dud, can we start making something for me? i have lots and lots of ideas! bzzzzzz.

dapper doxie duds: jasper the friendly pup's playduds and retro gent duds

Yippee, today a peekypoo at the happy little pair of duds I finished yesterday for Jasper, whose mom knew that all work and no play makes Jasper a dull boy.  Which is why methinks her special little boy not only will have a nice new dapper retro happy little gent dud complete with removable vintage silk bowtie, but also a cheery owl dud made from fabric picked especially by his mom for her sweet little boy, all in colors that will complement his light and lovely complexion.

tiny chumley, of course, was happy to help model Jasper's duds, working for his usual little itty bitty smidgens of snackies until his nose found out he could do better.

dapper doxie duds: blues clues

Hello! My name is Baxter your roving reporter reporting to u today after wrapping up my modelling shoot for my mom's latest dapper doxie dud for my friend and Annie's new chocolatey dapple brother Blue.  Pardon the voiceover, cuz I am still a little nakey cuz mom hasn't put my collar back on. But in the meanwhile I thought U might enjoy seeing what Blue looks like.  Blue was adopted back in March but he was so skinny that his mom decided he needed a little fattening up before my mom made him his dud, and lo and behold he is just perfect now and now he has his very own dud!

Mom says his duds were made with neckties from all sorts of different decades, going as far back as the 50s and 60s and 70s and 80s and into the present.  I say, I think this will look swell on Blue, dontchoo?
