spice world

The little kielbasa's nose was all a twitter today as he helped me unpack my fabrics and start the process of putting together kits to make purses in the coming weeks.

mmmm, i smell spices in the air. must be the fabric mom bought in amish country!

carpe buyem

My homecoming toothbrush incident? Nothin compared to the surprising uber mound of stuff that greeted Big Boyfriend in the foyer when I unpacked my car the next day.

Yep, some serious poundage. These next few days will be busy as I try to plan what to make and rearrange the house to make room for all my treasures, and soon it will be time once again to make make make! So exciting!

Peekypoos as soon as I dig out of the foyer. Most of the goodies are for making handbags and scarves but there are some coolio trims for duds and even some outrageously fab headgear that I can't wait to modify to fit a doxie!!

poultry flavored

Some conversations between husband and wife as they brush their teeth for bed should never have to start like this:

"Hey hwile ah hwuz ghon, hwif toofbruf didjoo yoosh fur babee dawg?"

Yeah, you know what the answer to my question was. Total toothbrush interruptus.

pack back

I am told that tiny chumley first knew something was different when he entered the garage, fresh from his walkies. My shoes, still warm and apparently riddled with canine detectable stink from a five hour drive, were all that the little kielbasa needed to know that I was finally back from my journey.

Tiny chumley wiggled with growing excitement while he waited for Big Boyfriend to unlock the door and undo his duds, then darted off to follow the invisible scent trail that led him straight to where I was hiding. Millions of tail wags and kisses later, our pack was now officially back together.

Tomorrow, hopefully, a peekypoo at some of the swell goodies and sights from my trip. But today, a lot of catching up to do with my Big and tiny little boyfriends. :)

my tushie cowlick

Buried deep in blankies as Baxter was a few days ago, I guess I shouldn't have been surprised by the tiny little pokey hairs that stood at attention on Baxter's backside when he finally unearthed himself. But amusing still they were, his little furry tushie whorls gone awry. A cowlick, as only a smooth haired doxie could manage.

my new toyfriend: mister skunky p. eeeew

dear diary,
day four, and today during recess duk duk and i are going to take turns pretending to be davy crockett. super fun, right? only neither of us have a raccoon hat so my new toyfriend mister skunky p. eeeeew is gonna let us take turns wearing him on our head. which might be pretty authentic in some ways cuz nobody could shower much back then and well i am sure things were kinda stinky so between my tushie and mister skunky, i think we will be set in the odor department.

well i think i hear my teacher coming so i best get my thinking cap on!

toodley-doo,
b.

(ps - thank u miss kimberly for my super new toyfriend!!)

the big apple

dear diary,
boy am i bummed. mom told me to count to seven and as if wasn't enough, she said while she is gone, she will be going to the big apple with auntie robin. like, that doesn't even sound right. cuz apples are for eating, not for visiting. and even if u could visit an apple, what would make that more interesting than hanging with me and dad? i guess one day i will find out because mom said one day she wants us all to go to the big apple, and then i can see what all the fuss is about.

but for now, i will just worry and stay close to my dad. and look forward to skyping with her tonight.

toodley-boo hoo,
b.

away from the manger

Sometimes an idea I have for a picture doesn't always turn out the way I thought. But most of the times, there is always a story, just waiting to unfold.

Take my original idea for tiny chumley's christmas day photo. A nativity spectacular, with the Baxter Joseph, the wooden musical angel Mary, the three wise duk duks and of course, the baby Jesus duk duk, all nestled into a manger improvised from flea market & thrift store finds. The kind of thing that most certainly spring from the mind of an imaginative four year old little dogboy, right?

But what I forgot is that with all the toy and snackie hubbub of the holidays, tiny chumley hadn't seen all his duk duks in a while.

The little kielbasa's eyes lit up when he came upon the manger gathering of duks.

I soon realized that Baxter Joseph would not be visiting us today. Nope, today wooden musical angel mary, the three wise duk duks, and baby Jesus duk duk would be graced with the presence Baxzilla, ransacking destroyer of tiny model towns, and mauler of duks.

Til I took away the duks, and the little kielbasa assumed the spot he felt should have been his all along.

it's a little tight but i think i can make my new bed work. will u please fetch me a blankie?

testing testing 123

I'm not really one to make resolutions, but there is something this year that I really must resolve to do. Learn how to use the new Sony DSC-TX9 camera that Santa Boyfriend left under the Christmas tree.

I must admit, for a point and shoot camera, there are a LOT of new settings to learn, and there are a few newfangled features like 3D and underwater panorama that I could have done without. But for the most part, if this low light evening shot of the little kielbasa is any indication, this camera is very promising. And it as a pet setting, which I can't wait to try out.

So I think once I build a relationship with my new tiny black box, we'll be fine. Though for me at least, it'll take a bit of time. Unlike the little kielbasa, got used to the new camera in no time at all.

o, it's one of those things but in a different color. do i get a snackie for this?

my new year's resolutions

dear diary,
well yesterday was the first day of the new year and dang if it wasn't dark n cloudy all day. not a great day for chasing outdoor duks, but such a good day for thinking about my resolutions for the new year. that, and well, mom said i had to before i could play the wii with duk duk. so here are some of my resolutions for 2011.
  • monkey chow
  • aluminum foil (spaceship grade)
  • working ray gun
  • machine that goes boop boop boop
  • bubble gum, or duct tape
  • more monkey chow

boy i am so glad duk duk knew what resolutions meant so i didn't have to take the time to google it. why mom didn't just say she wanted our list of things we need for project monkeys in space, i'll never know. time to play with wii!

toodley-doo,

goodbye 2010

So here it is, tiny chumley's last picture of the year. Familiar, isn't it? But look closely, way up past his tattooed mark of zorro and heart shaped tummy hair line, and you might just see the new little white hairs that are starting to invade tiny chumley's upper lip. Migrating, as they are, from Baxter's chiny chin chin, and spreading out like dandelions in a field of bright green grass.

All too soon, I think to myself every time I take the time to notice them.

Baxter's little white hairs are the kind of thing that makes me sigh and be thankful all at the same time. Yes it means my tiny boyfriend has gotten older. But yes it means he has gotten old with me. With us, our microcosmic trio of family, doing all the happy go lucky things a dachshund and his crafty mom like to do.

When I look back at this past year, I remember many things, but mostly I remember how this little four legged stretch of boy enriched our lives, and in doing so, enriched so many others. Baxter's little world is a wonderland in which I am truly grateful to share, even though his growing patch of white reminds me that our time together will eventually come to an end.

But I hope that's not for many, many, many years to come.

So as this year closes, I write, thankful for the year that brought us new friends, amazing feats, new backyard holes, incredible cuteness and, yes, even new white hairs. Goodbye 2010, and thanks for a wonderful year!
